Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Bookkeeper to manage the company's day-to-day bookkeeping and financial record-keeping, and to provide general office support and coverage for the Office Administrator as needed.
This is an in-office, part-time position, with a schedule of approximately 1-3 days per week. The schedule may be flexible for the right candidate.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage and process weekly payroll and bi-weekly commission cheques, including payroll calculations, commissions, statutory deductions, vacation pay, and other payroll adjustments, ensuring accurate and timely payments
- Maintain payroll records and complete payroll-related requirements, including government remittances, T4s, ROEs, and other required payroll documentation
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
- Reconcile approximately 4–6 credit card statements and 3 bank account statements
- Prepare and maintain job costing records, ensuring accurate allocation and tracking of project costs
- Prepare year-end working papers, reconciliations, and supporting documentation for the external accountant
- Utilize Sage 50 accounting software
- Prepare and file required government tax payments and remittances
- Maintain organized and accurate financial records
- Answer incoming phone calls when needed and assist with general office inquiries
- Provide coverage for the Office Administrator during vacation, sick days, or other absences
- Provide support to the Office Administrator and Installation Manager on various projects
- Perform other bookkeeping and administrative duties as required
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar accounting role, or completion of post-secondary education in Accounting, Bookkeeping, or a related program
- Proficiency in Sage 50 accounting software, Microsoft Office (particularly Word and Excel), and other office software
- Solid understanding of basic accounting principles and bookkeeping practices
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills with strong attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Knowledge of account analysis, reconciliations, and general clerical functions
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
