Part-Time Bookkeeper — Transportation Industry

We are looking for a reliable, organized, and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to support our business operations and maintain accurate financial records.

QuickBooks proficiency, previous business bookkeeping experience, and experience in the transportation industry are mandatory. Candidates must also have reliable transportation to the work location.

Responsibilities

- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using QuickBooks.
- Enter and categorize transactions, expenses, receipts, and payments.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, including supplier bills, customer invoices, and overdue balances.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and other financial accounts.
- Track transportation-related expenses, including fuel, maintenance, repairs, insurance, tolls, and vehicle payments.
- Review supporting documents, including freight invoices, delivery records, and expense receipts.
- Prepare driver or contractor payment records and assist with payroll, as assigned.
- Monitor cash flow and prepare financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and aging reports.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing.
- Organize records for the accountant and assist with applicable sales tax and payroll reporting.
- Identify discrepancies and resolve bookkeeping issues promptly.
- Communicate professionally with customers, suppliers, drivers, and the accountant.
- Maintain confidentiality and secure financial records.

Mandatory Requirements
- QuickBooks proficiency is a must, including invoicing, bill entry, reconciliations, and financial reporting.




- Previous bookkeeping experience in the transportation industry is a must, such as trucking, freight, logistics, or delivery services.
- Previous business bookkeeping experience is a must
- Reliable transportation to and from the work location is a must.
- Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles and day-to-day business operations.
- Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
- Ability to track transportation expenses and maintain accurate driver, contractor, and supplier records.
- Working knowledge of applicable sales taxes and payroll procedures.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time management.
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and communicate clearly.
- Professionalism, dependability, and discretion when handling confidential information.
- Availability to work the agreed part-time schedule.

Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or certificate in bookkeeping, accounting, or a related field.
- Professional bookkeeping certification.
- Experience with transportation management software.
- Experience preparing driver settlements and tracking costs by vehicle, route, or customer.
- Experience working with an external accountant on year-end reporting.
