Building Custodian & Maintenance Technician

Greenwood Mall – Greenwood, Nova Scotia

Greenwood Mall is seeking a dependable, hands-on individual to join our team as a Building Custodian & Maintenance Technician.

This is a varied role responsible for helping keep the mall clean, safe, secure, and well maintained. The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently, interacting with tenants and customers, and responding to day-to-day building needs.

Responsibilities

- Perform routine inspections of the mall and surrounding property
- Aid in the cleaning and maintain of common areas, entrances and hallways
- Complete minor repairs and general building maintenance
- Replace light bulbs, ceiling tiles, filters, hardware, and similar building components
- Monitor the property for maintenance, safety, and security concerns
- Conduct routine interior and exterior security patrols
- Assist with opening and securing the building
- Monitor snow and ice conditions and help maintain safe entrances and walkways
- Respond to alarms, leaks, incidents, and other building-related issues
- Coordinate with contractors and service providers when required
- Assist tenants and customers with property-related concerns
- Document incidents, maintenance issues, and completed work
- Perform other general property duties as required

Qualifications We are looking for someone who is:

- Reliable, responsible, and comfortable working independently
- Practical and mechanically inclined




- Professional when dealing with tenants and the public
- Able to identify problems and take initiative
- Comfortable performing cleaning, maintenance, and security-related duties
- Able to use basic hand tools and ladders
- Capable of regular walking, standing, lifting, bending, and light physical work

Previous experience in building maintenance, custodial work, security, construction, property management, or a related field would be considered an asset. A valid driver’s license, First Aid/CPR, WHMIS, criminal record check and related maintenance or safety certifications would also be considered assets.

Compensation & Advantages

- $18.00–$25.00 per hour, dependent on experience. We are willing to train the right candidate, with opportunities for wage progression as experience, skills, and responsibilities increase.

Position Details Location: Greenwood Mall, Greenwood, Nova Scotia

Employment: Full Time / 40 hours a week

Schedule: Monday to Friday

Some evening, weekend, or after-hours availability may be required depending on mall operations and building needs.
