Position Description - Catering & Events Manager

About the SLCC The Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre is an Indigenous owned not for profit. We embody the spirit of partnership between two unique Nations who wish to preserve, grow and share their traditional cultures. At the SLCC our purpose is to uplift the Sḵwxwú7mesh and Lílwat7úl people, with pride and visibility on their land.

About the Role The Catering & Events Manager is responsible for the successful operational delivery of SLCC catering and events. Reporting to the Sales & Events Manager, this hands-on leadership role leads the event operations team and works closely with Kitchen, Retail, Operations, Cultural Sharing and Sales & Events to ensure events are delivered safely, efficiently and to SLCC standards.

We are looking for an experienced Food & Beverage leader who thrives in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment, communicates clearly and remains calm and solutions-focused when plans change. Strong relationships with department managers are essential to ensure client needs are clearly communicated and translated into effective event planning and execution. The role is highly seasonal, with peak periods requiring longer days, evenings, weekends and limited vacation availability.

The salary wage band is $65,000 - $ 75,000 and is experience dependent and service charge eligible. This is a full time role that is eligible for extended Health Benefits, WB Seasons Pass, Wellness Benefits, RRSP Matching, technology allowance and a Training and Development budget after completion of a 3-month probation term. Housing is available. The role reports directly to the Sales & Events Manager.

What we count on you for – Key Deliverables and Expectations:

Catering & Event Operations

- Lead the planning and execution of catered events, including BEO review, staffing, setup, service, teardown and post-event follow-up.
- Provide hands-on, on-site leadership to ensure food and beverage service meets SLCC standards for quality, timing, presentation and guest experience.
- Anticipate operational challenges, make real-time adjustments and support continuous improvement of catering and event procedures.

Cross-Department Collaboration





- Build strong working relationships with Kitchen, Retail, Operations, Cultural Sharing and Sales & Events to coordinate event requirements and resources.
- Maintain clear communication and smooth handoffs between departments, ensuring client expectations, staffing needs and operational changes are understood.
- Participate in cross-departmental planning and contribute to a collaborative, solutions-focused approach to event delivery.

Guest Experience & Service

- Champion exceptional hospitality and service throughout all catering and event operations.
- Support staff in responding professionally to guest needs and resolving service concerns while maintaining SLCC standards.
- Ensure guest interactions and cultural experiences are delivered with respect, cultural awareness and sensitivity.

Administration, Financial & Operational Accountability

- Monitor event labour, supplies, inventory and operational costs while supporting departmental budget objectives.
- Maintain accurate event documentation, records and reporting, and follow purchasing, cash handling, food safety and workplace safety procedures.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, service quality and profitability, and contribute to departmental planning and projects.

Team Commitment & Collaboration

- Work closely with the Sales & Events Manager and broader SLCC leadership to support the success of the Sales & Events department.
- Communicate operational changes, challenges and opportunities early, and provide support to other departments during major events and peak periods.
- Uphold SLCC policies, procedures and culture-first values while contributing to a respectful, collaborative workplace.

- Experienced Food & Beverage or catering professional with proven team leadership skills and a hands-on, service-focused approach.




- Highly organized, adaptable and able to manage competing priorities, make sound decisions and remain calm and solutions-focused in a fast-paced, seasonal environment.
- Strong communicator and relationship-builder who works collaboratively across departments, holds teams accountable and maintains a respectful and supportive workplace.
- Detail-oriented with a strong understanding of event preparation, execution and guest service.
- Culturally aware and genuinely open to learning about and respectfully engaging with Squamish and Lil'wat cultures.
- Professional, positive and able to work independently while knowing when to communicate, collaborate or escalate.
- Physically able to participate in event setup, service and teardown, including standing, walking and lifting as required.

Experience and Education

- 3–5+ years’ experience in Food & Beverage, catering, hospitality or event operations, including previous team supervision or management and experience leading high-volume events.
- Experience with staff scheduling, event logistics and operational coordination; FoodSafe and Serving It Right certification, or willingness to obtain.
- Post-secondary education in hospitality, F&B;, tourism, business or a related field is an asset; equivalent professional or lived experience is welcome.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, POS and event management systems; experience with Tripleseat, Lightspeed and 7shifts is an asset.
- Experience and/or understanding of Squamish and Lil'wat Nations and their cultures is an asset.
- Ability to work a flexible, seasonal schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays and extended hours during peak periods.
- Clear criminal background check.
