Responsibilities

- Provide a safe, structured, supportive, and trauma-informed environment for children and youth.
- Build positive professional relationships with youth and provide emotional support, encouragement, and guidance.
- Support youth with daily living skills such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, laundry, cleaning, organization, budgeting, and time management.
- Monitor and document youths' behaviour, mood, wellbeing, activities, interactions, and significant incidents.
- Complete daily logs, shift notes, incident reports, serious occurrence documentation, and other required records accurately and objectively.
- Respond appropriately to behavioural concerns, emotional distress, conflict, crisis situations, missing-person incidents, or safety concerns while following organizational policies and procedures.
- Use de-escalation, conflict-resolution, and crisis-intervention techniques when appropriate.
- Follow individualized plans, safety plans, behavioural strategies, placement goals, and recommendations developed for each youth.
- Support youth who may have experienced trauma, abuse, exploitation, family disruption, homelessness,



or other challenging circumstances.
- Transport or accompany youth to appointments, school, community programs, family visits, court-related appointments, or other approved activities when required.
- Communicate with supervisors, caseworkers, Children's Aid Society workers, healthcare providers, educators, police, advocates, and other professionals involved in the youth's care.
- Maintain appropriate professional boundaries, confidentiality, dignity, and respect for each youth.
- Follow medication, health, safety, emergency, curfew, contraband, missing-person, and residential policies as applicable.
- Participate in staff meetings, shift exchanges, case conferences, training, and development of support strategies.
- Maintain the cleanliness, security, and general operation of the residence while on shift.

Qualifications

- Experience working with children in educational or support settings
- Excellent communication skills to engage effectively with youths, families, and team members
- Compassionate attitude combined with patience and adaptability
- Ability to follow detailed care plans and safety protocols diligently
- Relevant certifications or training in child development or support work are a plus

Pay: $24.00-$26.00 per hour

Expected hours: 24.0 – 40.0 per week
