Community development and programming

Experience developing, coordinating, and delivering community-based programming for adults, parents, seniors, and other community members.

Understanding of community development service delivery and experience developing programs that respond to identified community needs, with a focus on residents of the Glen Cairn and Pond Mills neighbourhoods.

Experience planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating adult, parenting, seniors, community leadership development, and other community-based programs and initiatives.

Experience planning and coordinating community events and initiatives collaboratively with staff, volunteers, community members, and partners.

Ability to identify gaps in community programming and work collaboratively to develop appropriate and responsive programs, partnerships, and initiatives.

Experience developing skill-building and capacity-building opportunities that strengthen participant and volunteer knowledge, confidence, leadership, independence, and community involvement.

Ability to ensure programming aligns with GCCRC policies and standards, funder requirements, and identified community needs.

Community leadership development

Experience developing and facilitating community leadership development opportunities that build the skills, confidence, knowledge, and capacity of community members.

Ability to identify and support opportunities for residents to become meaningfully involved in programs, community initiatives, volunteer opportunities, and neighbourhood leadership.

Experience supporting participants and volunteers in developing practical, interpersonal,



leadership, and life skills.

Ability to encourage community members to identify priorities, contribute ideas, participate in decision-making, and become actively involved in their community.

Community engagement and outreach

Experience engaging community members in programs, events, community initiatives, leadership development, and volunteer opportunities.

Experience conducting community outreach and supporting ongoing participant and volunteer recruitment and engagement.

Ability to encourage and support community participation, capacity building, and meaningful involvement in community initiatives.

Experience developing and maintaining relationships with community agencies, organizations, service providers, funders, and other community stakeholders.

Ability to represent GCCRC professionally at community meetings, city-wide tables, events, and within broader community networks.

Strong communication and relationship-building skills with community members, professional partners, funders, volunteers, and other stakeholders.

Advocacy, crisis support, and participant service

Strong ability to develop supportive relationships with individuals experiencing poverty, homelessness, mental and physical health challenges, and other social or economic barriers.

Ability to support community members experiencing barriers while respecting individual dignity, privacy, circumstances, choices, and personal autonomy.

Experience identifying recurring barriers, community concerns, and service gaps and contributing to broader advocacy and community-development responses.

Ability to recognize opportunities for advocacy efforts to contribute to positive community and organizational impact.

Ability to provide positive, supportive, and professional interactions while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.

Ability to remain calm, supportive, responsive,



and solutions-focused when working with individuals experiencing challenging or crisis situations.

Experience developing, implementing, coordinating, and evaluating community-based programs and initiatives.

Ability to develop and maintain systems, processes, and tools that support effective program delivery, data collection, evaluation, and knowledge sharing.

Experience collecting and using quantitative and qualitative information to evaluate program outcomes, partnerships, advocacy efforts, and community impact.

Ability to use program outcomes, evaluation findings, and organizational learning to strengthen programming and maximize community and organizational impact.

Ability to share relevant organizational learning and program outcomes with partners, funders, stakeholders, and city-wide tables.

Ability to use participant, client, volunteer, and partner feedback as an opportunity to improve programs

Pay: $24.00-$28.00 per hour
