Cosmetic Formulator

Revon Pharma Ltd. is a Canadian contract manufacturer specializing in private-label cosmetics and health and food supplement products. We are looking for a hands-on, creative and self-motivated Cosmetic Formulator to support new product development, formulation, samples and production.

Position Summary The Cosmetic Formulator will be responsible for developing and improving cosmetic formulations, preparing samples, supporting production and scale-up, maintaining formulation records, and working closely with Senior Management, QA, Production and Procurement.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop and optimize cosmetic formulations such as creams, lotions, serums, gels, cleansers, shampoos, conditioners, sprays and other personal-care products.
- Develop new formulations and product ideas based on customer requirements and market opportunities.
- Take initiative to suggest new ingredients, products, formulations and improvements.
- Prepare laboratory trials, prototypes and customer samples and maintain proper sample records.
- Troubleshoot formulation issues including separation, viscosity, pH, stability, texture, colour, fragrance and emulsification.
- Support scale-up from laboratory samples to commercial production and assist with production troubleshooting.
- Work closely with QA on product specifications, quality issues, documentation, investigations and corrective actions.
- Coordinate formulation projects, priorities and timelines with Senior Management.
- Work with Procurement to evaluate raw materials, suppliers and alternative ingredients.
- Manage and monitor raw-material and ingredient inventory, including identifying replenishment requirements.
- Maintain organized and traceable sample inventory,



including development, customer and approved samples.
- Maintain accurate formulation, trial and product-development documentation.
- Ensure formulation changes and improvements are properly documented and communicated.
- Take ownership of assigned projects and work independently with minimal supervision.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Cosmetic Science, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemical Engineering or a related field.
- Hands-on experience in cosmetic formulation and product development.
- Good understanding of cosmetic ingredients, emulsions and personal-care formulations.
- Experience preparing laboratory samples and supporting production or scale-up.
- Knowledge of pH, viscosity, stability, compatibility and product performance.
- Strong organizational, documentation and problem-solving skills.
- Self-motivated, proactive and creative, with the ability to independently develop new ideas.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with Senior Management and cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in private-label or contract cosmetic manufacturing.
- Experience with cosmetic GMP and stability testing.
- Experience working with suppliers and evaluating alternative raw materials.
- Experience managing formulation and sample inventories.

Hands-On Requirement This is a hands-on formulation position. Candidates must have practical experience developing and testing cosmetic formulations. Candidates with only theoretical, regulatory or QA experience and no hands-on formulation experience will not be considered.
