Job Title: Damage Tolerance Analysis (DTA) Engineer

Note: Multiple Roles for different level of Experience

Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced

Damage Tolerance Analysis (DTA) Engineer to support aerospace Repair Engineering activities. The role focuses on evaluating aircraft structural damage and repair solutions and performing structural integrity assessments to ensure repairs meet applicable safety, airworthiness, and regulatory requirements.

The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in structural analysis, fatigue and fracture mechanics, damage tolerance methodologies, and aerospace structural engineering .

Key Responsibilities

Review and analyze engineering inputs, including structural damage details and proposed repair solutions.

Identify, locate, and map aircraft structural damage using engineering drawings and technical documentation.

Evaluate potential crack initiation and propagation scenarios and their impact on structural integrity.

Assess the effect of damage and repairs on

Structural Significant Items (SSIs)

and

Principal Structural Elements (PSEs) .

Calculate structural section properties at damage locations to support engineering assessments.

Perform residual strength analyses to evaluate structural capability and compliance with airworthiness requirements.

Conduct crack growth and crack propagation analyses using appropriate engineering methodologies and analysis tools.

Develop inspection recommendations, including inspection thresholds, repeat intervals, and appropriate inspection methods.

Prepare clear technical documentation and communicate analysis results and recommendations to engineering and cross-functional teams.

Collaborate with Repair Engineering, Structural Engineering, Maintenance,



and other technical teams to support repair development and certification activities.

Required Qualifications & Skills: Education

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in

Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering , or a related engineering discipline.

Technical Expertise

Strong understanding of fatigue and fracture mechanics .

Hands-on experience with

Damage Tolerance Analysis (DTA)

methodologies.

Experience performing structural integrity, residual strength, and crack growth assessments.

Familiarity with aircraft structural analysis and repair engineering processes.

Experience using structural analysis and/or crack growth analysis tools.

Ability to interpret aircraft structural drawings, technical data, and engineering documentation.

Regulatory & Industry Knowledge

Understanding of

FAA/EASA airworthiness and certification requirements related to aircraft structures and repairs.

Knowledge of aerospace structural integrity and damage tolerance requirements.

Analytical & Communication Skills

Solid analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate complex structural issues.

Ability to develop technically sound engineering solutions and recommendations.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional engineering teams.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with

Airbus aircraft structures .

Previous experience in aircraft repair engineering, maintenance engineering, or structural integrity assessment .

Experience with additional structural analysis, fatigue, fracture mechanics, or crack growth software.

Experience supporting aircraft certification or structural repair approval activities.
