Role Description This full time remote role focuses on data engineering and cloud operations to support Rockland Tech Hub’s internal and client-facing platforms.

The Data

Engineering and Cloud Operations Engineer will design, build, and maintain data pipelines, data warehouses, and integration workflows that ensure reliable, scalable access to data. The role includes managing cloud infrastructure, configuring services, monitoring performance, and implementing automation for deployment, backups, and recovery. Day-to-day tasks involve collaborating with software development teams, optimizing databases and storage, enforcing security and compliance standards, and troubleshooting production issues across data and cloud environments.



The engineer will also document solutions, contribute to architecture decisions, and help improve operational processes and tooling.

Qualifications

- Strong software development skills with experience in data-focused programming (e.g., Python, Java, or similar) and familiarity with APIs and integration frameworks.
- Hands-on experience with infrastructure and operations, including monitoring, logging, CI/CD pipelines, and automation tools.
- Proficiency in cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and cloud-native services for data storage, compute, and networking.
- Advanced Linux skills for system administration, scripting, and troubleshooting in production environments.
- Solid understanding of databases (SQL and NoSQL), data modeling, performance optimization, and backup/recovery strategies.
- Knowledge of data engineering concepts such as ETL/ELT, data warehousing, and batch/stream processing.
- Awareness of security best practices, identity and access management, and compliance considerations in cloud and data environments.
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting, communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders, and contribute to cross-functional teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience in consulting or client-facing technical roles is a plus.
