Position Summary

We are looking for an energetic, organized, and adaptable individual to fill a dual-role position as a Food Service Coordinator and Early Childhood Assistant (ECA).

Because our meals are fully catered, this role does not require cooking or food preparation. Instead, your primary responsibility in the kitchen is receiving, portioning, and serving nutritious meals and snacks to the children, while maintaining strict health and safety standards. When kitchen duties are complete, you will transition into the classroom to support our Early Childhood Educators (ECEs) and help provide a secure, engaging environment for the children.

Key Responsibilities

1. Food Service & Kitchen Duties

- Meal Distribution: Receive daily catered meals, check deliveries for accuracy and quality, and portion food according to dietary requirements and age-appropriate serving sizes.
- Food Safety & Sanitation: Maintain a clean, sanitized kitchen and dining area, adhering strictly to local public health and daycare licensing regulations.
- Allergy Management: Carefully track and manage children's food allergies and dietary restrictions during meal service.
- Inventory & Cleanup: Clean and sanitize lunch bins, serving utensils, and kitchen surfaces; manage basic kitchen inventory and supplies.

1. Classroom Support & ECA Duties

- Classroom Assistance:



Step into classrooms as needed to support ECEs with daily routines, transitions, and supervision.
- Break & Naptime Coverage: Cover for staff while they are on their lunch breaks and supervise children during rest/sleeping periods.
- Care & Supervision: Assist children with self-care routines (e.g., handwashing, coat/shoe management, and bathroom support) while maintaining a warm, nurturing atmosphere.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure classroom environments remain safe, clean, and compliant with childcare regulations at all times.

Certificates & Training:

- Valid Food Handler Certificate.
- Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification.
- Background Check: Clear vulnerable sector check / police check suitable for working with children.
- Experience: Previous experience working in a licensed childcare center, food service environment, or school setting is an asset.

- A warm, patient, and flexible attitude with a genuine passion for working with children.
- Ability to multitask and smoothly transition between kitchen operations and active classroom support.

Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract Pay: $18.50-$19.20 per hour

Expected hours: 30.0 – 40.0 per week
