We are currently seeking a Director, Banking Systems Delivery & Operations to join our team.
The Director, Banking Systems Delivery is responsible for leading the planning, development, delivery, support and ongoing evolution of banking technology solutions that support business objectives and align with Tru Cooperative Bank's IT strategy. This role oversees the end-to-end lifecycle of banking systems, including solution delivery, application support, and operational performance, in accordance with the Cooperative Bank’s Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and governance frameworks. The Director collaborates closely with the business and technology leaders across the organization and provides leadership to third-party vendors and partners to ensure the seamless integration, stability and performance of mission critical banking systems.
Here’s what would be included as a part of your typical day
1. Leadership: Provides strategic and operational leadership to the banking system delivery and application support functions. Translates business and IT strategies into functional plans, priorities, roadmaps, and measurable outcomes. Establishes clear accountabilities and ensures the team has the capabilities, capacity, and operating practices required to execute effectively. Leads and develops a high-performing team through coaching, performance management, professional development, mentoring, succession planning, and workforce planning.
2. Solutions Delivery: Delivers solutions following the Cooperative Bank’s SDLC, architecture, cybersecurity, risk, change management and governance requirements. Provides oversight of complex implementations and integrations, resolving issues and removing organizational barriers that may affect delivery outcomes. Provides leadership on the capabilities, configuration, and effective use of the banking system, including how system functionality enables business processes, products, and member experiences. Advises senior leadership on system capabilities, constraints, risks, and opportunities, and influences business decisions to support scalable and sustainable solutions.
3. Support and Operations: Provides leadership and oversight for the support, stability, resilience, availability and performance of mission-critical banking systems and related integrations. Establishes service expectations, operating models, performance measures, escalation protocols, and governance practices for internal teams, outsourced services, and third-party providers. Ensures effective monitoring, incident management, problem management, risk mitigation, and operational reporting practices are in place to maintain system health and service performance. Partners with Technology Operations, Cybersecurity, Risk, and business leaders to strengthen operational resilience, incident readiness, business continuity, regulatory compliance, and audit preparedness.
4. Roadmap & Planning: Develops and maintains an integrated roadmap and delivery plan for banking systems based on approved business and IT strategies.. Ensures release and investment priorities reflect business readiness, architectural integrity, resource capacity, risk requirements and member experience priorities. Provides consultative support on financial and resource planning,
including budget requirements, vendor costs, resource forecasts and effort estimation. Establishes measures to monitor delivery performance, expected outcomes and the value realized from banking system investments. Ensures delivery and operational support priorities are integrated into roadmap, capacity, and investment planning decisions.
5. Stakeholder & Third-Party Engagement: Provides leadership and governance for third-party vendors, managed service providers, and banking system partners, including CGI, CAG/Alliance, other credit unions, and related technology providers. Establishes clear service, risk, performance, and delivery expectations and holds partners accountable for contractual commitments, integration outcomes, delivery quality, operational performance, and issue resolution .Leads senior-level vendor relationships and escalations and works with Procurement, Legal, Risk, Cybersecurity, and business leaders to address service issues, contractual requirements, and third-party risks.
Required Skills, Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree IT, Computer Science, or related discipline required or an equivalent combination of experience and education
- 8+ years working in an IT technology, product leadership or system implementation leadership with experience in financial services or fintech preferred
- Demonstrated ability to think both strategically and tactically, looking for innovation
- Brings a high-energy, “can-do” passionate outlook to the job and can influence those around them
- Adaptability to pivot and change course with business needs
- Strong self-starter who can work in a collaborative team environment but isn’t afraid to tell it like it is
- Strong relationship building, negotiation and leadership skills, ability to persuade and lead a squad of diverse stakeholders
- Identifying innovation opportunities and implementation
- Deep understanding of industry trends and client needs, ability to create a value proposition for the client and the product vision, and apply critical thinking to effectively assess risks and opportunities
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with a high degree of comfort in speaking with a wide range of team members including with senior leaders
- Experience working in a complex product development environment with standard IT Project methodologies
- Overnight travel may be occasionally required, up to 6 times per year
- Displays an understanding of risk management by being able to demonstrate adherence to policies and procedures.
