The Chance:

The Saskatchewan Apprenticeship and Trade Certification Commission (SATCC) seeks an individual for the Director, Inclusion and Learning Services position located in Regina or Saskatoon. This position will be primarily responsible for the leadership of a learning services team committed to the learning success for apprentices and tradespersons, and for the ongoing development of an inclusive and diverse organization within the SATCC and the apprenticeship system. The position also provides leadership to a complement of five staff, including an Educational Psychologist, two Learning Strategists, an Indigenous Liaison, and an operational support position. The role is also responsible for developing and delivering on personal work objectives as well as those of the team. You will report directly to the Chief Operating Officer.

A Bachelors, or Masters degree is required with a preference towards those with studies in Adult Education, Education, Instructional Design, or a related field. A Journeyperson Certification would be considered an asset.

Some travel and overnight stays are required.

The position will lead a learning services team in the delivery of the Apprentice Success Enhancement Strategy (ASES), designed to provide learning support for apprentices and tradespersons in their efforts to achieve certification as journeypersons.The position will regularly engage with subject matter experts, the learning services team, interprovincial colleagues, communities of practice, and operational staff to create engaging and impactful learning experiences. The position will stay abreast of emerging trends and industry technologies to ensure our learning programs remain at the forefront in supporting apprentices and tradesperson to certification.



The Director will regularly evaluate the effectiveness of learning initiatives through data analysis and stakeholder feedback.

The position is expected to foster a culture of change and inclusion by collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop educational offerings that meet our organization's and clients' diverse needs.This position will lead the SATCC commitment to support the design, development, and implementation of programming to foster a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace and apprenticeship system.They will champion diversity, equity, and inclusion by incorporating diverse perspectives and experiences into learning content and methodologies. The programming will be directed at all equity-deserving groups to enhance their opportunities for entry and success within the apprenticeship system. The position leads the development and execution of initiatives and programs that promote an inclusive culture, ensure opportunities for apprentices, enhance employee engagement, and help to influence industry partners on the value of inclusive workplaces.

This position will collaborate with senior leadership of the SATCC to embed diversity, equity, and inclusivity (DEI) best practices into all aspects of our business operations and to ensure a DEI lens is used to inform best practices. The position will also provide leadership support to the Indigenous Liaison position to enhance opportunities and success for Indigenous peoples in the skilled trades. This includes leading and administering the Indigenous Apprenticeship Initiatives (IAI) program, which, through an RFP process, provides funding for programs to introduce or advance the skilled trades with our Indigenous stakeholders.

You will participate with other provincial and national agencies, such as the Virtual Learning Strategist program and other relevant working groups to learn best practise and to advance inclusivity and learning services/supports.
