My Hockey House is seeking an accomplished strength and conditioning professional to serve as one of our primary coaches, coordinate S&C; staffing and oversee the daily operation of our recent high-performance hockey training facility.
This is not an entry-level coaching position or a traditional gym-management role. We are looking for a proven performance coach who has worked directly with high-level athletes, can coordinate and develop other coaches, and has the maturity and organizational ability to maintain exceptional facility standards.
The Opportunity The Director of High Performance and Facility Operations will oversee the staffing, scheduling and consistent delivery of strength and conditioning programming at My Hockey House. The Director will also serve as one of the facility's primary S&C; coaches and will personally lead the majority of scheduled training sessions.
The position combines hands-on coaching with staff coordination and facility leadership. The successful candidate must be an exceptional coach who can assign qualified staff appropriately, maintain consistent coaching standards and ensure every session is delivered safely and professionally.
The Director will also oversee daily facility operations, coordinate staff deployment and help maintain an exceptional experience for athletes, families and teams.
Performance and Coaching Responsibilities
- Personally coach the majority of My Hockey House S&C; sessions.
- Deliver individual, semi-private, small-group and team training for developing, competitive, elite and professional athletes.
- Coordinate and schedule qualified S&C; coaches to cover remaining sessions and match coaches to athlete ages, levels and program needs.
- Ensure all scheduled sessions have appropriate coaching coverage, coach-to-athlete ratios and clear session expectations.
- Monitor coaching quality and maintain consistent professional, technical and safety standards.
- Support the development and implementation of evidence-informed performance programs.
- Adapt prescribed programming appropriately based on athlete needs, readiness and progression.
- Conduct athlete assessments and translate findings into practical training recommendations.
- Use available performance technology, including beeSPORT and VALD-supported testing tools
- Monitor athlete progress and communicate relevant observations or concerns.
- Mentor S&C; coaches and provide clear, constructive performance feedback.
- Collaborate with skating, skills and rehabilitation professionals when appropriate.
- Help develop programs that support athlete outcomes, customer retention and responsible business growth.
Staffing and Scheduling Responsibilities
- Build and maintain the S&C; coaching schedule.
- Confirm coaching availability and arrange coverage for absences or schedule changes.
- Anticipate staffing needs based on registrations, memberships, team bookings and seasonal demand.
- Maintain an approved roster of qualified employees and contractors available to coach.
- Support the recruitment, onboarding and training of additional S&C; coaches.
- Communicate schedule changes promptly and identify recurring coverage or performance concerns.
- Work with the Head of Player Services to keep facility schedules and customer booking information accurate.
Facility Leadership Responsibilities
- Oversee daily facility operations and maintain a safe, organized and professional environment.
- Coordinate staff deployment, coaching coverage and operational priorities.
- Ensure opening, closing, cleanliness, equipment-care and safety standards are consistently followed.
- Monitor equipment condition and coordinate maintenance, servicing and repairs.
- Support capacity management across the gym, studio, skatemills, shooting lanes and skills rink.
- Respond calmly and professionally to athlete, parent, staff and facility concerns.
- Support staff onboarding, training, performance feedback and accountability.
- Enforce facility policies, emergency procedures and risk-management standards.
- Identify operational problems early and recommend practical solutions.
- Protect the quality, culture and reputation of My Hockey House.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum five years of strength and conditioning or athletic-performance coaching experience.
- Demonstrated experience working directly with high-level competitive athletes.
- Recognized professional credential such as CSCS, CSEP-CEP or an equivalent high-performance certification.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification, or ability to obtain it before starting.
- Strong knowledge of strength, power, speed, mobility, movement quality, conditioning and athlete monitoring.
- Experience assessing athletes and developing individualized training plans.
- Proven ability to coordinate staff and maintain professional standards.
- Strong organizational, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Legal ability to work in Canada and ability to satisfy applicable background-screening requirements.
Strongly Preferred
- Direct experience training high-level hockey players.
- Experience with junior, collegiate, professional or national-level athletes.
- Experience supervising coaches or coordinating performance staff.
- Familiarity with VALD technology or comparable athlete-testing systems.
- Experience coordinating facility operations, scheduling, safety or equipment maintenance.
- Knowledge of long-term athlete development and age-appropriate youth training.
- Established relationships within Calgary's hockey or high-performance community.

Schedule
This position requires flexible leadership hours based on athlete demand and facility operations, including early mornings, afternoons, evenings and occasional weekends. The Director must be visible and actively engaged during important training and operating periods. This is not exclusively an administrative or office-based role.
Compensation
My Hockey House offers highly competitive compensation commensurate with the experience, credentials, coaching record and leadership ability required for this position.
