Position Summary

As a key member of the Leadership Team who reports to the Executive Director, the Director of Service Delivery is responsible for providing focused leadership for day-to-day service delivery, ensuring consistent and aligned oversight and responsiveness. This role supports Service Directors and Supervisors directly, improving alignment and stability across service teams. To manage and direct the Society service delivery in a way that promotes full compliance with CYFSA legislation, regulations, standards and guidelines, the agency’s Indigenous service model and its Anti-Racist, Anti-Oppressive, Intersectional Signs of Safety (SofS) practice model as well as meeting Board and Society standards, policies and procedures through effective delegation to plan, manage, direct, resource, organize, control and evaluate the Programs, the assigned staff and attached resources.

Accountabilities

- Assist the Executive Director in achieving excellence in service and operations through sound strategic and operational planning and leading the successful implementation of the Society’s strategic directions.
- Manage all potential and actual risks or their residual effects in a way that minimizes or eliminates their effects on the Society, service users and staff.
- In consultation with the leaders of the assigned departments, develop a long-term plan to evolve Child Welfare services so that they more effectively meet the needs of children and families and promote community partnerships as guided by the agency’s Indigenous service approach and its equity-based SofS approach to service.
- Continually analyze and evaluate the existing service programs to improve their effectiveness and ensure equitable approach to practice. Where approved, develop formal written implementation plans that will facilitate orderly change, improve the coordination, clarity, alignment of services and follow through across service areas.
- Support and implement people and culture strategies that creates a healthy and equitable workplace that fosters belonging, safety, care and wellbeing. To promote a work environment that is fair, equitable, consistent, inclusive and respectful.
- Lead through change and progressive practice with a focus on organizational success, interdepartmental collaboration,



equity and Indigenous engagement and outcomes, and client satisfaction.
- Provide leadership and oversight that ensures efficient use of resources, sound financial stewardship, and creates progressive and sustainable fiscal service-related strategies
- In collaboration with the Executive Director, liaise with the assigned Board Committee in a manner that enables the Committee to make informed, ethical, legislatively based decisions that evolve our service to the community.
- Formally supervise, coach and evaluate delegated staff so that service, financial, and human resource objectives are met, policies and procedures are followed, and accountability is promoted and maintained.
- Address client complaints.
- Applies and/or ensures both an Equity and Indigenous approach are used to develop and maintain all systems, policies, procedures and practices and makes changes to eliminate barriers. Monitors current social, economic, and political trends and issues, including legislative proposals and directives that impact Indigenous and equity-seeking groups and vulnerable populations and leverages findings appropriately.

Qualifications
- Professional degree in Social Work from a school that is accredited by the Canadian Association for Social Work Education.
- 12+ years of experience in child welfare, family and residential services.
- 10+ years of experience in a field directly related to the job with increasing accountability and complexity.
- 5+ years of experience in formal people management (e.g. set goals, coaching, performance management), including leading through others, preferably in a unionized environment.
- Demonstrated experience developing and managing budgets, with direct financial accountability for a department or service area.
- Demonstrated experience with Indigenous and Equity-seeking service models. Demonstrated leadership in implementing and leading programs and services that are Indigenous and Equity affirming.
- An equivalent combination of relevant education,



experience, and training may be considered as appropriate.

Additional Information Candidates must undergo and successfully pass a background check before an offer of employment may be made. Proof of education is required.
