Who we need

Reporting to the Associate Dean, we are hiring Full-time Faculty for our Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. You will play an important role in shaping the learning experience for nursing students by bringing current clinical knowledge and professional expertise into the classroom, laboratory and simulation environments, and clinical practice. You will teach a prepared curriculum, supporting students across the theory, lab or simulation, and clinical components of your assigned courses.

Alongside teaching, you will contribute to student support, academic collaboration, career development, service, and scholarship.

This is an existing permanent onsite role based at our Sackville, New Brunswick campus. Some clinical teaching may take place at local partner hospitals, including sites approximately 30 minutes from campus.

With class sizes generally around 40 students and classes above 60 typically split, you can build meaningful connections with learners and provide individualized support. Whether you are already teaching or transitioning from clinical practice, you will have opportunities to strengthen your teaching through professional development, collaboration, and reflective practice while building your scholarly profile.

Structure and stability. Full-time Faculty typically teach one course for an eight-week module before moving to their next assigned course, allowing you to become familiar with the curriculum and focus your attention rather than continually preparing multiple new courses. You will have access to up-to-date, prepared course materials and syllabi, along with benefits beginning on your first day to help make the transition from another nursing or healthcare employer more seamless.

How you will make an impact

- Teach across the nursing curriculum. You will teach an assigned course across its theory, lab or simulation, and clinical components, depending on your area of expertise and course assignment. Courses run in eight-week modules, with full time Faculty typically assigned two courses in rotation rather than continually preparing current courses each term. You will primarily work during the day, with occasional grading or other academic work outside regular hours as needed.
- Create meaningful learning experiences. You will use your clinical knowledge and nursing expertise to make course content relevant and practical.



You will create inclusive and responsive learning environments using learner-centred approaches and Universal Design for Learning principles across relevant teaching modalities, ensuring students can connect nursing theory with the realities of professional practice.
- Support students throughout their learning. You will provide timely, meaningful feedback using a range of assessment approaches, monitor student progress and attendance, and maintain regular communication with learners. You will be available to students through scheduled office hours and connect them with appropriate university resources when they need additional support.
- Bring clinical expertise into the classroom, lab, and practice setting. You will draw on current nursing practice to help students develop clinical judgement, professional skills, and confidence. Where your course assignment includes clinical teaching, you will support students in local hospital environments and help them apply their learning safely and effectively in practice.
- Collaborate with your faculty colleagues. You will work closely with program leadership and other Faculty to support a consistent, high-quality student experience. You will collaborate on course delivery, student needs, academic activities, and program priorities while contributing to a connected nursing faculty community.
- Strengthen curriculum and academic quality. You will contribute to curriculum enhancement, course and program reviews, and academic quality initiatives, ensuring teaching and learning remain aligned with program and course outcomes, accreditation standards, regulatory requirements, and institutional priorities. You will help ensure course delivery remains aligned with learning outcomes, professional expectations, regulatory requirements, and the needs of contemporary nursing practice.
- Keep developing as an educator. You will participate in professional development and reflective practice, using student feedback and other evaluation sources to identify opportunities to strengthen your teaching. You will have opportunities to engage with the Centre for Teaching Excellence & Innovation and develop your scholarly activity in areas such as teaching and learning, qualified practice, and academic service.
- Contribute to the Yorkville community. You will participate in Faculty development, academic and professional service, and scholarly activities that strengthen teaching, nursing education, and the broader Yorkville community. This may include committee participation, qualified networks, knowledge sharing, and discipline-specific scholarship aligned with your area of expertise. You will participate in departmental and university initiatives that foster a culture of equity, inclusion, learning, and student success.

What you bring

- The nursing credentials. You hold or are near completion of a Master’s or PhD in Nursing, with the clinical and skilled background needed for the role. You are a Registered Nurse with current professional registration in Canada and are eligible to obtain and maintain registration with the College of Nurses of New Brunswick (CNNB).
- The clinical experience. You bring current or recent Canadian nursing practice experience, with expertise in medical-surgical nursing and/or pediatrics preferred. Experience in maternal-child or behavioural health nursing is also relevant. You understand the Canadian healthcare environment and can bring practical, current examples into your teaching. Experience with nursing laboratory or simulation environments is an asset.
- The interest in education. You have demonstrated teaching experience or a strong interest in moving into nursing education and a willingness to develop your teaching practice. You are committed to learner-centred education that connects theory and practice and can support students from different backgrounds and with different learning needs. Ideally, you have experience with nursing laboratories, simulation, or other applied learning environments. You are comfortable helping students connect nursing theory with clinical practice and supporting diverse learners. You do not need to have spent your career in academia; Yorkville welcomes strong clinical nurses who are ready to develop as educators.
- The professional currency.



You maintain current knowledge of nursing practice and demonstrate a commitment to ongoing career development. You are engaged with your discipline and professional networks and are interested in contributing through scholarship, applied research, professional practice, or knowledge mobilization.
- The communication and collaboration skills. You communicate clearly and build strong, respectful relationships with students, Faculty, academic leaders, and colleagues. You can work collaboratively, organize your workload effectively, and exercise sound judgement when supporting students in academic and clinical settings.
- The technology skills. You are comfortable using Brightspace, Microsoft Office, and other educational technologies to support teaching, assessment, communication, and student engagement. You understand the importance of privacy, data security, and responsible use of educational technology.

Compensation philosophy The starting salary for this position is $100,000 annually, with four weeks of vacation.

Courses run in eight-week modules and are delivered continuously throughout the year, with short preparation weeks between some modules.

Base salary is one part of a broader package that includes paid time away, retirement savings matching, and extended health coverage with 80% of premiums paid. After 12 months of full-time employment, there is also tuition-free access to all our education programs.
