This position is intended to be filled by a female candidate.

IRES is launching PEACE (Prevention, Education, Advocacy, Community and Empowerment), a 12-month, culturally and faith-responsive initiative that helps Calgary’s Muslim communities prevent family conflict and gender-based violence and find justice-related supports earlier. Working with the Executive Director and a small team, the Navigator will lead day-to-day delivery of PEACE from launch to final report.

Responsibilities

- Plan and manage delivery of four program cycles, each with a Community Awareness & Family Wellness Session and a six-week Family Empowerment & Support Program
- Coordinate Facilitators, the Support Workers, the Legal Information Consultant, Indigenous guest speakers, and volunteers
- Oversee participant recruitment, registration, and outreach across diverse, multilingual communities
- Build and maintain referral pathways with legal, counselling, victim-support, settlement, and crisis-service providers
- Coordinate the quarterly PEACE Community Advisory Committee, including agendas, minutes, and follow-up
- Track outputs and outcomes: pre/post assessments, attendance, referrals, participant feedback, and success stories
- Manage the project budget in collaboration with the Executive Director, and keep PEACE expenses tracked separately
- Prepare progress and final reports for the funder, in line with grant requirements
- Uphold participant confidentiality, privacy, and safety protocols
- Document curriculum,



tools, and resources so the program can continue after the funding period

What You Bring

- Post-secondary education in one of the following fields is an asset: social work, community development, public administration, criminology, or a related field.
- 3 years managing community, non-profit, or social-service programs
- Experience with grant reporting, budgets, and outcome evaluation
- Understanding of gender-based violence, family violence, and trauma-informed practice
- Ability to work respectfully with people from varied cultural, faith, and newcomer backgrounds
- Strong organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills
- Comfort working with volunteers and community partners
- Availability for evening and weekend sessions
- Transparent Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check (or willingness to obtain one)

Nice to Have

- Familiarity with Calgary’s Muslim communities and Islamic values
- Experience working with justice-system or victim-services partners
- Additional languages such as Arabic, Urdu, Somali, Pashto, Dari, Bosnian, or Turkish
- Knowledge of Alberta’s legal, settlement, and social-service systems
- Experience with Indigenous engagement or reconciliation-focused programming

Pay: $24,000.00 per year
