Position Summary The Tl’azt’en Nation Social Development Department is seeking a dynamic individual to join our team as the Family Resource Center Coordinator. The FRC Coordinator is responsible for engaging clients, community groups, agencies and service providers to support members of the community in the newly opened Family Resource Center. The Coordinator will have oversight of the center and coordinate center operations.
Key Responsibilities
- The position’s primary focus will be on creating and developing a warm, welcoming drop-in centre while reaching out to and supporting families. Coordinate all aspects of the centre, including grounds and related operations.
- Collaborate and network with the Social Development Department and service providers.
- Identify programs and resources needed to support outreach activities by developing and maintaining informal and formal community networks.
Provide Family
Center projects and activities that reflect Tl’azt’en traditional practices, including food harvesting and preservation.
- Provide ongoing support and activities to all members of the community.
- Coordinate staff and service-provider schedules, including Elder in-house activities and smokehouse duties.
- Plan and prepare the Community Pantry monthly.
- Establish a referral process for partners and Nation operations.
- Ensure all available and required resources are in place and are used appropriately, and evaluate the effectiveness of any project, activity or plan.
- Act as an advocate for clients by providing assistance in accessing health, social and related agencies and groups. Encourage community development by assisting individuals, groups and communities to articulate and advocate for related services.
- Perform other duties associated with Social Development programs and services.
- Assist with budgeting and center plans with partners and the department management team. Provide quarterly reports on operations and identify future needs, including financial needs.
Qualifications
- Successful Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check required.
- Grade 12 or equivalent.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence and good driving record.
- Experience or training in community program delivery.
- Knowledge of resources within the community and methods of access.
- Awareness of and sensitivity to the social issues of the community.
- Proficient with computer and Microsoft Office programs
Pay: $32.00-$40.00 per hour
