Mission and Summary:
With clients you serve directly, you are the voice and face of the firm. You are the trusted care-giver to serve and fulfill the promises we made in the agreement that we have with the client. Your primary responsibility is to perform the assigned tasks and to work closely with your Team Lead/Manager, the Partners and other colleagues to ensure that the agreements are fulfilled timely & fully, but that services stay within the framework of the agreements we have with our clients.
In addition, this role requires a good knowledge and expertise around bookkeeping, tax compliance, financial reporting, and general accounting knowledge. You are committed to continuous personal and career development to grow in your knowledge of the technical requirements to serve our clients.

Details of Your Role:
Client Service
- Meet with the Team Lead/Manager, Financial Reporting, periodically to discuss bookkeeping, accounting, tax compliance, planning and accounting services and processes for particular clients.
- Accounts Payable processing (via Digital Banking and cheques as required)
- Monitor invoices to ensure they are processed within their due dates
- Coordination of authorization of payments (e.g., pushing through invoices for authorization, obtaining signatures)
- Bank and credit card reconciliations and other balance sheet reconciliations
- Process payroll and related filings (e.g., input of payroll data into software,
review of payroll reports, processing payroll, ensure net pay is deposited and remittances are made). Note: With some clients, many of these processes are automated
- Record donations and grant revenue from source data
- Monthly investment accounting (including unrealized gains calculations)
- Prepare HST rebate filings
- Prepare monthly and annual financial reports
- Prepare year end files and schedules for auditor
- Reviewing existing processes to recommend Apps and other software which increase efficiency
- Prepare monthly and annual financial reports
- Assist clients in their budgeting process (e.g. input of budget data in the accounting software, preparing budget vs actual reports and variance commentary)
- Develop monthly reports for Board/Finance Committees (e.g., Charts or PowerPoint presentations) based on the financial data produced during the bookkeeping process
- Regular meetings with clients’ management and other staff as required, to discuss the recording of financial transactions
- Organize, manage, and store online financial records
- Perform the tax and accounting work assigned to you using the firm’s processes, tools and templates.
- Preparation of sales tax returns.
- Preparation of personal tax returns.
- When determined, troubleshoot broken integration links between accounting products and clients’ bank/credit card accounts.
- Using the firm’s processes and spreadsheets, keep track of the client’s estimated sales and income tax estimates and payments being made during the year.
- Manage time effectively, meeting deadlines and delivering quality results.

Firm Collaboration
- Notify Team Lead/Manager, a month in advance of expected travel in order to coordinate your plan for your role responsibilities.
- Collaborate with the team on an ongoing basis, and consistently remain in the firm’s office chat & project management system daily.
- Make ongoing suggestions for the improvement of the firm’s processes.
- Other assigned tasks and projects as we become aware. This will change.
