Origin is a forensic investigation firm specializing in post-loss investigations in fire and electrical, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, materials, metallurgy and chemistry. Primary Role

The role of the fire engineer is to conduct technical investigations—through a meticulous scientific analysis of the damage and any elements remaining after a fire or explosion—in order to determine the origin and cause.

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct surveys and observations to determine the cause of fires involving buildings (residential, commercial, industrial, or agricultural) or equipment;
- Perform laboratory tests, analyses, examinations, and simulations to verify explanatory hypotheses;
- Explain the process leading to their conclusions in transparent, accessible terms, communicating findings both verbally and in writing;
- Travel throughout Quebec (and occasionally outside the province) to examine fire scenes;
- Serve as an expert witness in court proceedings when required.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering;
- Member of a professional order in Quebec;
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience required;
- Strong French communication skills (both oral and written);




- Aptitude for and interest in technical and hands-on work;
- Ability to participate in promotional activities and maintain the company’s professional network;
- Availability for training in Canada and the United States, as well as for technical knowledge sharing among experts;
- Good command of spoken and written English (an asset).

Working Conditions

- Permanent position: 35 hours per week – remote work option available;
