Mar Music School is looking for a reliable and experienced audio engineer who is comfortable working in both live sound and multitrack recording environments.

We currently have two confirmed projects in October and are looking for someone who, if it’s a good fit, can become our regular freelance engineer for future concerts, recording sessions and music projects.

October 11 – Mar Music School Live Show

Rose & Crown – Yonge & Eglinton

⏱ Approx. 4 hours

You will help with stage/audio setup and run sound for approximately two hours of student performances.

The show includes

- Vocals
- Piano/keyboard
- Acoustic and electric guitar
- Ukulele
- Bass
- Drums
- Backing tracks
- Full-band performances

You should be comfortable with microphone placement, FOH mixing, EQ, gain staging, monitors, feedback control, troubleshooting and quick stage changeovers. Because this is a music school event, you must also be patient, friendly and comfortable working with children, teenagers and families.

October 18 – Band Live Recording Session

LYNX Music, Toronto

⏱ Approx. 3 hours

We will be recording and filming a live performance by a three-piece instrumental band (guitar, bass and drums).

You should be comfortable with:

- Microphone selection and placement
- Recording drums, guitar and bass simultaneously




- Apollo / audio-interface signal routing
- Logic Pro
- Gain staging
- Multitrack recording
- Monitoring
- Managing bleed in a live-room recording
- Troubleshooting during the session

The goal is to capture the best possible live performance and multitrack recording while the band is being filmed.

- Experienced in both live sound and recording
- Reliable and punctual

- Calm under pressure
- Good at troubleshooting
- Comfortable working directly with musicians
- Friendly and professional around students and families
- Musically minded with a good ear
- Interested in developing an ongoing working relationship

Compensation: $250 CAD total for both October projects. These two dates are confirmed. Additional paid work may be available for future Mar Music School shows, live sessions and artist projects.

When applying, please include a short description of your live sound and recording experience, the equipment/software you normally work with, and any examples of previous live or studio work.

Toronto applicants preferred. Must be available for BOTH October 11 and October 18.

Pay: $35.70 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 7.0 per week
