RoBIM Technologies Inc. is an Edmonton-based technology company developing the HIVE—a reconfigurable robotic fabrication platform that produces wall, floor, roof, and other framing components for residential, commercial and industrial buildings.

The Opportunity

Have hands-on framing experience and a strong interest in technology? This is an opportunity to get involved early in a scaling robotics startup, do practical work and help shape how construction components are made.

At RoBIM, you’ll work alongside robotic engineers and software developers, bringing your carpentry skills to real fabrication challenges. You’ll build wall panels and assemblies, support trials, check results, and help the team understand what works, what needs to change and why. While your focus will be on fabrication, your observations on the floor will help inform the technology we develop.

You’ll see the connection between an idea, a test, and a finished component—and have a hand in improving all three.

Framing experience and technological savviness is required. Previous robotics experience an asset.

What You’ll Do

- Build wall panels and assemblies to deliver customer orders.
- Measure, mark, cut and assemble lumber and engineered wood products.
- Build floor, wall, and roof assemblies, including openings, headers, blocking and backing.
- Install sheathing, subflooring, connectors and fasteners according to project specifications.
- Check dimensions, squareness, alignment, and fastening to ensure components meet requirements.
- Read and interpret digital construction drawings, blueprints, framing plans and shop drawings.
- Support trial builds and prototypes, identify problems and provide clear, practical feedback.
- Work with our robotics and software teams to test and improve fabrication methods, assembly sequences, and finished quality.
- Use digital tools to review information and communicate fabrication results and issues.
- Safely operate carpentry tools and learn to work with robotic equipment under established procedures.
- Maintain an organized workspace and support day-to-day fabrication, testing and facility operations.

What You Bring

- Hands-on wood framing and carpentry experience, with a sound understanding of materials, tools, fastening methods and assembly.




- Physical ability to perform the duties of the role, including lifting and carrying materials, bending, and standing for extended periods, with reasonable accommodation where required.
- Comfort with technology. You’re confident using computers and digital tools and willing to learn unfamiliar software and equipment. Ability to interpret construction drawings and work accurately with measurements and layout.
- Curiosity and practical problem-solving. You want to understand why something works and how to make it better.
- Initiative and follow-through. You notice what needs attention, raise issues early, and take responsibility for completing work.
- Adaptability. You’re comfortable testing an approach, learning from the result, and adjusting as processes develop.
- Transparent communicator with an interest in collaborating with teammates from different technical backgrounds.
- Dependability. Arrive on time, have attention to detail, and a consistent commitment to safety.

Bonus Qualifications

- Carpentry apprenticeship training or journeyperson certification.
- Experience with prefabricated panels, off-site construction, or manufacturing.
- Exposure to automated equipment, robotics, CNC machinery, or digital fabrication.
- Personal projects or practical experience that demonstrate an interest in technology, making, or mechanical problem-solving.
- Relevant safety training, such as fall protection or first aid.
