Most B2B marketing is boring.

It lacks personality, is vanilla, and scrolled past in half a second. Our clients work in healthcare, legal and other regulated industries, where the rules are real. But so are their buyers. Those buyers are real people with busy days and a very short attention span. They deserve better than beige.

At Start Some Shift, we make B2B marketing so exciting we get real results. We've been doing it since 2008, and we're looking for a fractional marketing support pro to help us do more of it.

Who you'll work with

You'll report directly to Lara McCulloch, an award-winning marketer with more than 30 years of experience. She built Start Some Shift into a fractional CMO firm known for getting its clients results.

You'll have real autonomy, with a seasoned strategist one ClickUp message away.

What you'll actually do (about 5-7 hours a week)

- Write copy that earns attention. You'll use AI to research, ideate and help build structure, but you never use it to just write... because you can spot slop from across the room. You get inside a buyer's head quickly and write words that make them stop, think and act.
- Design social posts in Canva. You'll work within each client's brand standards and bring the design, the caption and the angle together. You know that a nice-looking post and a post that gets results are two different things, and you design for results.
- Keep projects moving. You'll break big projects into clear tasks in ClickUp, manage timelines, chase down anything that stalls, and lead our weekly internal status meeting. You don't need to know ClickUp specifically, but you do need to have run projects in a similar tool (Asana, Monday, Trello, or something like them).
- Talk to clients like a pro. You'll communicate with clients directly, so you need to be explicit,



composed and polished, both in writing and on calls.

The deal

- $1,000-$1,500 CAD/month retainer to start, for roughly 5-7 hours a week
- A clear path to $2,500+ CAD/month within 90 days, based on results
- Independent contractor, fully remote
- Canada-based
- Weekly team meeting on Mondays around 11am ET (required)
- Slack, plus our team Canva and ClickUp accounts, all provided
- Start date: as soon as possible

You're our person if you:

- Have at least 2 years in a similar marketing role
- Already run your own contracting business with other clients, and have room to grow with us
- Have work samples you're proud of (required)
- Have B2B experience (preferred); experience in a regulated industry is a bonus
- Understand how people actually decide to buy, including when the buyer is a whole committee
- Use AI tools every day, but don't depend on them to do your work for you
- Do your best work when things move fast, and judge your own week by what got done

Please don't apply if you:

- Need someone to tell you what to do next
- Treat professionalism as optional, with clients or with the buyers they sell to
- Can't reliably make a weekly meeting
- Get rattled when priorities shift mid-week
- Think "good enough" is good enough
- Don't care about client results
