Front of House Coordinator
Memory Care Hotel and Day Program for People Living with Memory Loss
Work Location: 100 Renfrew Drive, Suite 110 Markham, Ontario L3R 9R6
Hours of Work: 12 hour shifts 730am-730pm
Schedule Rotation: Every Other Thursday and Friday
Primary Role:
The Front of House Coordinator is an essential role of the Memory & Company team that ensures Members and guests are greeted upon arrival and checked-in as necessary, assisted and upon exit checked-out. The Front of House Coordinator ensures the dining area is monitored and its appearance is maintained at all times to the Memory & Company standards. The Front of House Coordinator will work directly with the Executive Chef to assist with Member meals to ensure accuracy of special diets, food safety procedures are followed, and support the Executive Chef with the set-up and clean-up of the dining space to ensure a high standard hospitality type workplace.
They will also be responsible with keeping the Members dietary board up to date at all times. The Front of House Coordinator ensures Members and their guests are supported in the dining room at all times and encourages Members to assist with ADL's in the kitchen environment or assist with providing individual Members activities such as books/magazines, arts and crafts, games and activities. The Front of House Coordinator will work directly with the Memory & Company Support Team to ensure our Members and their Guests are having the best experience in the dining room and ensuring Member happiness and safety in the dining room area.
Essential Qualifications
- Hospitality certificate or diploma and/or experience and Food Handler certificate required. PSW (Personal Support Worker) certificate will be an asset
- Minimum 1 year experience working with people who have Alzheimer's or related Dementia's, Acquired Brain Injury,
Stroke and Parkinson's diagnoses'.
- Physically fit, can lift (35lbs), sit, bend and stand for long periods of time.
- Mentally fit to meet the emotional needs and demands of supporting people living with Memory Loss.
- Possess excellent written, verbal skills and computer technology skills for effective communication.
- Passionate about improving the lives of those affected by Memory Loss.
- Comfortable leading and facilitating small groups.
- Comfortable with all aspects of personal care in a sensitive, private and respectful manner.
- Experience with housekeeping in the dining and kitchen area and dining assistance for Members.
- Enjoys the universal Support Team approach.
- Keen, reliable, energetic, friendly, approachable.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities effectively.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
- Patient, kind, calm, compassionate, empathetic and very adaptable to working in a high paced environment.
Primary duties and responsibilities:
- Coordinating the full operations of the dining area.
- Working closely with Executive Chef to ensure special diets are followed, dietary board is current and up to date, dining is set-up based on meals, and assisting during meal times in the dining area.
- Greeting, signing in and out Members and their Guests and coat check room. Tracking and logging Members’ additional meals and Members’ guest meals.
- Ensuring the dining room's appearance is maintained at all times, such as sweeping, mopping,
wiping tables and chairs, cleaning counters, removing old linens and Member aprons.
- Ensuring lights are on, Member friendly music playing, televisions are on, daily menu's presented and up to date, centrepieces are on and the candles are lit to ensure a warm and welcoming environment for Members and guest arrivals.
- Monitoring Members, and ensuring their comfort while in the dining room working alongside Support Team Members.
- Encouraging Members to assist with ADL's in the kitchen/dining environment such as cutlery roll ups, polishing, folding linens etc. (based on Members interests).
- Ensure our Members are safe and happy in the dining room by providing light individual activities, such as providing books, magazines, puzzles, arts and crafts.
- Ensuring Trial and New Members dietary restrictions and meals are safe and accurate based on trial waiver, and Member Management information.
- Follow health and safety requirements, protocols and procedures at all times.
- Provide kind, calm, warm, friendly compassionate and empathetic support to all our Members and their guests while maintaining members’ respect and dignity of all times.
- Maintain a professional, respectful, open-minded, open-communication environment with all team members, members and all guests.
- Address concerns when they arise with the appropriate leaders and complete required documentation as required.
- Ensure our Members are well fed, and hydrated at all times.
- Other duties as requested from time to time by the Memory & Company leadership team.
Job Types: Part-time, Permanent Pay: $20.00-$21.00 per hour
