Role Description The Government Relations Director is a full-time, on-site role based in Edmonton, AB. This position is responsible for developing and executing government relations strategies that support client objectives in the life sciences and related sectors. Day-to-day activities include monitoring legislative and regulatory developments, building and maintaining relationships with government officials and policymakers, and preparing briefing materials, position papers, and advocacy plans.

The Director will coordinate and lead meetings with key stakeholders, represent clients in consultations and policy discussions, and provide strategic advice on market access and public affairs initiatives. The role also involves collaborating internally with consulting teams, managing multiple client projects, and ensuring all government relations activities are ethical, compliant, and aligned with firm standards.

Qualifications





- Strong foundation in Governmental Affairs and Government Relations, with the ability to design and implement effective public policy and advocacy strategies.
- Experience in Lobbying and Legislative Relations, including engaging decision-makers, participating in consultations, and navigating legislative processes.
- Knowledge of Legislation relevant to health, medical, biotech, and environmental sectors, and the ability to interpret and communicate policy impacts clearly.
- Proven experience in policy analysis, stakeholder engagement, and strategic communications within government, consulting, or industry settings.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare concise briefs, presentations, and advocacy materials.
- Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships with diverse stakeholders and to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.
- Solid organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and manage multiple initiatives concurrently.
- Bachelor’s degree in public policy, political science, law, health administration, or a related field; advanced degree or relevant professional designations are an asset.
- Knowledge of Canadian federal and provincial political systems, particularly Alberta and broader Canadian health policy landscapes.
- Commitment to ethical advocacy, inclusivity, and non-partisan collaboration.
