Overview

Camrose County is seeking a skilled Grader Operator to join our team. Reporting to the Roads Superintendent, the Grader Operator is responsible for the operation of assigned equipment for the maintenance of County Roads, Infrastructure, Right of Ways, Hamlets and Bridge File Projects.

Primary responsibilities include summer blading and winter plowing within a specified grader area, brushing, summer patch and winter graveling, culvert steaming, minor construction projects, as well as County equipment and facility routine maintenance.

The Grader

Operator will also be required to accurately document and record safety processes, work and inspections undertaken using the County’s electronic format.

Duties

- Maintain all existing roads within a specified area as per the current “Grader Operator’s Guide”.
- Work on assigned brushing crew during Winter non-snow periods.
- Assist in spreading of both winter gravel and summer patch gravel.
- Assist in the dust control program as directed.
- Assist in minor construction projects as determined by the Manager of Public Works or his designate.
- Perform grader and equipment maintenance as assigned by the Manager of Public Works or his designate.
- Provide feedback to the Roads Superintendent concerning difficult and/or unusual problems, procedures or practices through review and discussion to ensure the completion of maintenance areas in the most appropriate manner, including the snow removal policy.
- Conduct road, drainage,



culvert and signage inspections as required by the Manager of Public Works or his designate.
- Perform culvert steaming as required by the Manager of Public Works or his designate.
- Monitor roads for gravel and pass on requirements to the Public Works office.
- Monitor road network for new approaches and pass on information to the Public Works office.
- Monitor area drainage and pass on issues and concerns to the Public Works office.
- Provide relief operations for other grader areas as determined by the Manager of Public Works or his designate.
- Responsibilities may include the maintenance of existing roads through mowing, gravel reclaiming, and slope re-contouring.
- Other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Manager of Public Works or his designate.

Qualifications

- Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent.
- Clean drivers abstract and criminal record.
- Minimum Class 5 Drivers Licence.
- Minimum 5 years proven experience and ability to operate a motor grader proficiently for both summer road maintenance and winter snow plowing.
- Physical capability to perform some heavy manual tasks.
- Available to work overtime hours if required.
- Working knowledge of computers and smartphone applications.
- Knowledge of Camrose County.

Job Types: Full time, Permanent Pay: $32.45-$39.77 per hour
