HEAD OF PHILANTHROPY

Permanent, Full time

Since 1995, Cortellucci Hospice Vaughan has supported individuals and their families, as they journey through a life-limiting illness. Our Hospice Palliative Care Hub includes a 12-bed hospice residence that provides a final peaceful homelike space for individuals and their families who require end of life support. In addition, we offer a range of support programs for our community, including grief and bereavement support.

POSITION PURPOSE

Cortellucci Hospice Vaughan (“CHV”) is seeking a dynamic, entrepreneurial, and relationship-driven fundraising leader to advance the organization's philanthropic growth and long-term sustainability.

The Head of Philanthropy will serve as the organization's lead revenue development qualified, responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major donors, corporate partners, foundations, and community stakeholders. The successful candidate will build and manage a robust donor pipeline, create sustainable fundraising systems and strategies, and significantly expand philanthropic revenue. This is a highly external-facing role requiring substantial community engagement, donor cultivation, and strategic relationship-building.

Reporting Structure

Reports To: Executive Director

KEY PRIORITIES (FIRST 12–18 MONTHS)

- Assess and establish the foundational elements required to support a future capital campaign, including donor pipeline development, campaign case development, prospect identification and leadership donor engagement
- Build and manage a qualified major gifts pipeline.
- Increase philanthropic revenue through major gifts, corporate partnerships, sponsorships, and foundation support.
- Develop relationships with key business and community leaders.
- Establish a comprehensive donor engagement and stewardship framework.
- Strengthen CHV's visibility and profile throughout the community.
- Create a multi-year fundraising growth strategy.
- Evaluate and optimize existing fundraising activities for return on investment.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES Major Gifts & Donor Development

- Identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major gift prospects.
- Build and maintain a portfolio of high-capacity donors and prospects.
- Conduct regular donor meetings and presentations.
- Develop personalized cultivation and stewardship strategies.
- Secure leadership-level philanthropic investments and sponsorships.

Corporate Partnerships & Community Engagement

- Develop strategic partnerships with corporations, professional firms, and community organizations.
- Identify and secure sponsorship opportunities.
- Represent Hospice Vaughan at community events, networking functions, and stakeholder meetings.
- Build relationships that enhance both fundraising outcomes and organizational visibility.

Fundraising Strategy & Revenue Growth

- Develop and implement annual and multi-year fundraising strategies.
- Diversify revenue streams through major gifts, planned giving, grants, sponsorships, monthly giving, and community fundraising.




- Establish measurable fundraising goals aligned with organizational priorities.
- Monitor performance and adjust strategies to maximize growth.

Capital Campaign Development & Readiness

- Assess organizational readiness for future capital campaigns and major fundraising initiatives.
- Develop and implement strategies to identify, cultivate, and engage prospective campaign leadership donors and champions.
- Build a pipeline of transformational gift prospects capable of supporting current capital priorities.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director, Board, and key stakeholders to develop campaign case-for-support materials and fundraising strategies.
- Establish the donor engagement, stewardship, and prospect management processes required to support a successful capital campaign.
- Provide leadership in campaign planning, feasibility assessment, and execution as organizational priorities evolve.

Pipeline & Systems Development

- Develop and maintain a comprehensive donor pipeline management process.
- Implement donor engagement and stewardship frameworks.
- Ensure effective CRM utilization and donor tracking.
- Create reporting dashboards and fundraising performance metrics.

Leadership & Team Development

- Provide leadership and mentorship to the fund development team.
- Foster a culture of philanthropy throughout the organization.
- Support board members and volunteers in fundraising activities.
- Collaborate closely with the Executive Director and leadership team.

Success Measures

- Achievement of annual fundraising targets.
- Growth in major gift revenue.
- Growth in corporate sponsorship revenue.
- Number of qualified donor prospects added to the pipeline.
- Number of donor and prospect meetings conducted.
- Donor retention and stewardship outcomes.
- Growth in recurring and planned giving programs.
- Increased community awareness and engagement.
- Development of a capital campaign prospect pipeline and campaign readiness strategy.
- Identification and cultivation of leadership-level and transformational gift prospects.

QUALIFICATIONS

- Minimum 7 years of progressive fundraising, major gifts, sponsorship sales, business development, or philanthropic leadership experience.
- Demonstrated success securing six and seven figure gifts , sponsorships, or strategic partnerships.
- Proven track record building donor pipelines and cultivating long-term relationships.
- Exceptional networking, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
- Experience working with boards, volunteers, and senior stakeholders.
- Strong strategic planning and revenue-generation capabilities.




- CFRE designation considered an asset.
- Knowledge of the Vaughan community and healthcare/not-for-profit sector considered an asset.

COMPENSATION & PERFORMANCE INCENTIVE STRUCTURE Hospice Vaughan is seeking a high-performing fundraising and business development professional who is motivated by achieving and exceeding ambitious revenue goals. The compensation model is designed to reward both fundraising success and the creation of long-term philanthropic growth opportunities.

Salary Range:

$90,000 - $110,000

Competitive and commensurate with experience.

Performance Incentive Opportunity

Eligible for an annual performance incentive of up to 25% of base salary based on achievement of fundraising, donor acquisition, partnership development, and pipeline growth objectives.

Fundraising Goal Achievement (60% Weighting)

Strategic Growth Measures (40% Weighting)

Performance against:

- New major gift revenue secured
- New corporate sponsorship revenue secured
- New foundation and grant revenue secured
- Growth in qualified donor pipeline
- Number of major donor cultivation meetings
- Growth in recurring and planned giving programs
- Donor retention and stewardship outcomes
- Strategic partnerships established within the Vaughan community

PERFORMANCE PHILOSOPHY The objective of this incentive structure is to reward exceptional performance, encourage continuous revenue growth, and recognize individuals who successfully build sustainable philanthropic capacity for CHV. Success is measured not only by achieving annual fundraising goals, but also by creating the donor relationships, community partnerships, and fundraising infrastructure necessary to support the organization's long-term mission and growth.
