go2HR is seeking a knowledgeable, people-focused Health and Safety Specialist with an emphasis on psychological health and safety to join our collaborative and fun-loving team. This hybrid role combines a strong foundation in occupational health and safety (OHS) management and psychological health and safety (PHS) expertise. The successful candidate should reside in the Lower Mainland and be able to work from go2HR’s Vancouver office twice a week. This is a one-year term position with the possibility of extension. You’ll work directly with employers across BC, helping them create psychologically safer, healthier workplaces where people can thrive.

About the Chance:
As our Health and Safety Specialist, you’ll play a central role in supporting employers across BC. You’ll build trusted relationships and provide expert guidance and hands-on support to strengthen psychological health and safety as part of a comprehensive approach to workplace health and safety.
Here’s what you’ll be doing:
- Deliver customized health and safety advisory services to industry employers,
addressing current and emerging workplace challenges including PHS hazards and controls with practical, tailored solutions.
- Advise on PHS matters, from regulatory compliance to practical best practices, using a collaborative and adaptable approach.
- Serve as a go2HR ambassador by promoting our health and safety programs and encouraging participation across the industry.
- Build and nurture relationships with key stakeholders, including employers, industry associations, destination marketing and management organizations, and WorkSafeBC.
- Collaborate across teams to plan and deliver engaging webinars, presentations, surveys, and resources.
- Identify cross-promotion opportunities for go2HR’s full suite of services, including training and HR support, and facilitate warm referrals.
- Stay current on PHS and OHS trends, legislation, and best practices while providing industry-informed insights into emerging health and safety issues.
- Expand and enhance our offerings by recommending new training, tools, and services based on industry needs.
- Support employers directly as they build, refine, and strengthen their health and safety programs and incorporate PHS principles.
- Create and refresh educational website resources, ensuring content is engaging, relevant, compliant, and responsive to industry needs.
- Contribute your voice and expertise to industry communications, including articles, newsletters, e-blasts, and social media.
- Participate in health and safety committee meetings by sharing knowledge, gaining insights, and collaborating with peers.
- Track impact and outcomes by monitoring trends, evaluating program results, and contributing to monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
- Help shape the way forward by contributing to work planning and strategic initiatives that strengthen go2HR’s health and safety impact across the province.
What You Bring:
- Three or more years of experience in an occupational health and safety role, including demonstrated knowledge of psychological health and safety; tourism and hospitality industry experience an asset
- OHS certificate/diploma or equivalent highly desirable, working towards an OHS designation (e.g. CRSP or CHSC)
- Professional certification or training in psychological health and safety, mental health, health promotion, change management, or coaching is an asset (for example, the CMHA Psychological Health and Safety Professional Certificate,
Opening Minds’ Integrating Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace, or Certified Change Management Professional certification)
- A strong understanding of workplace factors that influence psychological health and safety, along with the ability to analyze data and identify trends
- Hands-on experience in health and safety program development, and applying the National Standard for Psychological Health and Safety or the WorkSafeBC Psychological Health and Safety Framework for Success preferred
- Knowledge of the BC Workers Compensation Act and Occupational Health and Safety Regulation, with the ability to locate and interpret key information
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to build relationships and provide practical, realistic advice and solutions
- Experience creating and delivering engaging presentations, workshops, and training
- A detail-oriented, self-motivated, and highly organized approach, with ownership of both the work and its outcomes
- Strong project management skills and experience implementing new initiatives
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Teams, and Zoom
- A valid BC driver’s licence and willingness to travel
Salary & Perks: $80,000–$90,000 per year, based on experience, education, and credentials.
