Overview

We are seeking a passionate and energetic High School Math Teacher-Tutor to inspire students in grades 9 through 12. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students’ academic journeys by providing engaging instruction and personalized support. The ideal candidate will bring enthusiasm for teaching, strong communication skills, and experience working with teenagers in a classroom or tutoring setting.

Must be available 2-4 evenings per week and/or Saturday mornings for a 3-4 hour shift. Classes run Monday-Thursdays 3pm-8pm and Saturdays 9-12pm. Must obtain a Vulnerable sector check.

Responsibilities

- Deliver engaging and effective math lessons tailored to high school students’ needs in grades 9-12
- Assess students’ understanding through regular evaluations and adapt teaching strategies accordingly
- Support students in developing problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and confidence in math




- Foster a positive learning environment that encourages curiosity, participation, and growth goals
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and assessments

Skills
- Strong knowledge of high school-level mathematics concepts across grades 9-12 including senior level functions, calculus and data management- physics and chemistry knowledge is a strong asset
- Excellent communication skills in English; French is considered an asset
- Experience working with children in classroom or tutoring settings
- Demonstrated tutoring or teaching experience with diverse learners
- Exceptional writing skills for creating lesson plans, assessments, and feedback reports
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet individual student needs
- Classroom experience that fosters an engaging and supportive learning environment
