The hotel serves Edmonton’s thriving business, government, and association markets.

Position Overview

We are seeking a reliable, skilled, and guest-focused Maintenance Technician to join the Engineering team at DoubleTree by Hilton Edmonton Downtown.

This position plays a key role in ensuring the safety, functionality, and appearance of the hotel by maintaining guest rooms, public spaces, meeting facilities, and back-of-house operations. The successful candidate will perform preventative maintenance, respond to service requests, troubleshoot building systems, and support the hotel's commitment to delivering exceptional guest experiences.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform daily maintenance and repair tasks throughout guest rooms, public areas, meeting spaces, and back-of-house facilities.
- Respond promptly and professionally to guest maintenance requests and operational work orders.
- Execute preventative maintenance programs to ensure hotel equipment, systems, and facilities remain in excellent condition.
- Troubleshoot and repair HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, lighting, and life-safety systems as assigned.
- Complete general repairs including painting, drywall, carpentry, furniture repair, lock replacement, and fixture maintenance.
- Conduct regular inspections of building systems and identify opportunities to prevent equipment failures and service disruptions.
- Maintain hotel grounds, exterior areas, entrances, sidewalks, and parking areas to Hilton standards.
- Assist with meeting room setups, event support,



and special projects as required.
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs, work orders, inspection reports, and preventative maintenance records.
- Ensure tools, equipment, workshops, and storage areas remain clean, organized, and secure.
- Support energy conservation initiatives and identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency.
- Follow all hotel safety procedures, emergency response protocols, and Occupational Health & Safety requirements.
- Report immediately any safety hazards, equipment failures, or property damage.
- Work collaboratively with Housekeeping, Front Office, Food & Beverage, and Sales teams to support hotel operations.
- Assist with renovation projects, capital improvements, and contractor coordination as required.
- Uphold Hilton brand standards and contribute to a positive and professional team culture.

Qualifications

- Previous experience in hotel maintenance, commercial building maintenance, facilities management, or a related field preferred.
- Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, carpentry, and general building maintenance.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve maintenance issues independently and efficiently.
- Experience with preventative maintenance programs and building systems inspections.
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced hospitality setting.
- Comfortable using maintenance management software, mobile devices, and digital work order systems.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, and perform physically demanding work.
- Trade certification, apprenticeship experience, or technical training is considered an asset.
- Valid driver's license is considered an asset.
- Must be available to work flexible schedules including evenings, weekends, holidays, and emergency call-ins when required.
