Job Title: Housing Support Worker, Kindred Spirit Job Type: Full - Time, Term (guaranteed 32 hours per week) Location: 1181 Branion Drive, Prince Albert, Sk Reports to: Kindred Spirit Manager About the YWCA YWCA Prince Albert is a friendly and rewarding place to work. Responsibilities Housing Support Workers are members of the Kindred Spirit team and work together to provide housing supports for clients in a versatile, compassionate, and responsible manner.
Qualifications - Experience in human services, supported housing, or persons with disabilities/addictions; - Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous culture; - Must pass criminal record check and vulnerable sector check; - Driver’s license & Vehicle; - Excellent communication skills (written and verbal); - Computer skills; - Ability to work independently; - Excellent time management skills

- Employee pays portion - 5% matching pension plan - Professional development opportunities Duties - Review communications board, emails and log - books when coming on shift. Review on call schedule; - Be available to respond to client needs and requests where reasonable in a friendly and courteous manner; - Ensure property security alarms and cameras are on and functional; - Assist Program Staff when requested, to ensure safety of staff and residents; - Responsible for maintaining clear and concise logs of all unusual occurrences or suspicious activities; - Respond to accidents, contact EMS or administer first aid/CPR as required; - Be available for community members for mentorship and consultations; - Assist community members, guests,
employees during emergency situations; - Be aware of emergency procedures in the event of the need for building evacuations; - Notify appropriate individuals (on-call staff, Supervisor, Manager) and/or Authorities in the event of accidents, attacks, or other critical incidents; - Maintain written and computerized records, compile reports and complete other program documents (including case notes, statistics, letters, etc.); - Transport clients in accordance with established client transportation policies/protocols; - Provide culturally sensitive outreach, case management, and other needed services to clients; - Provide individually tailored services to each client, e.g., housing placement, independent living skills, appointment escorts, home visits, family counselling; - Aid clients in their homes and in the community to allow them to participate safely and as independently as possible with dignity and respect; - Assist with building cleanliness and safety- escorting any unwelcome persons from the property when safe to do so, respond to incidents as needed and awareness of emergency procedures; - Respond and notify appropriate individuals (on-call staff, Supervisor, Manager) and/or Authorities in the event of accidents, attacks, or other critical incidents and ensure critical incident reports are completed; - Must have knowledge and understanding of First Nation and Métis cultures
- Must work respectfully within a diverse environment and respect confidentiality; - Hourly checks of client apartments and support the families’ needs according to their individual case plan; - Meal preparation as required; - Participate in/plan evening social and cultural events with clients; - Participate in training offered through the organization; - Must follow safety and security policies at all times; - Maintain client confidentiality at all times; - Debrief with shift rotation; - Write clear and concise incident reports when necessary; - All other duties and responsibilities as deemed necessary by management
