Set Up Technician

Woodbridge, Ontario | Full Time, Permanent | Plastics Manufacturing

Position Overview An established plastics manufacturer in the Woodbridge area is seeking an experienced Set Up Technician to support its injection molding operation. This hands on role focuses on mold changes, machine and ancillary equipment set ups, process consistency, troubleshooting and preparing equipment for safe, efficient production.

What You Will Be Doing

- Set up and install molds in injection molding machines according to production work orders.
- Set up ancillary equipment required for the molding process.
- Set up end of arm tooling for robotic part removal and trimming.
- Complete mold changes and mold insert changes according to the production schedule.
- Follow and document established process parameters to support repeatable production results.
- Prepare machines and work areas so they are clean, organized and ready before production begins.
- Use crane and hoist equipment to move molds through the plant and complete mold changes.
- Handle molds, materials and tools properly to prevent damage and support safe operations.




- Use troubleshooting skills to help establish and maintain repeatable injection molding processes.
- Communicate clearly between shifts regarding machine, mold and production status.
- Assist with improvements to procedures and identify opportunities to improve efficiency.
- Provide training and support to other set up technicians as required.

What We Are Looking For

- Minimum 3 years of experience setting molds in injection molding machines in a manufacturing environment.
- Post secondary education or equivalent experience.
- Strong understanding of injection molding machine functions and the fundamentals of the injection molding process.
- Ability to read and understand production work orders.
- Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision in a quick paced manufacturing environment.
- Ability to prioritize work and complete time sensitive tasks.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly.
- Must have own tools.
- Forklift certification and overhead crane certification.
