Summary The Cash Management Group at Canaccord Genuity is looking for an Investment Advisor to join our high-performance team. Our group manages over $7 billion in client assets and employs like-minded individuals who come to our office every day with a solid work ethic, a positive attitude, creative problem-solving skills, and grit.
This is a sales-focused Investment Advisor role for an individual who is motivated by building relationships, prospecting for new business, and growing a book of institutional clients. The successful candidate will identify organizations with significant cash balances, develop relationships with key financial decision-makers, and present investment solutions designed around each client's liquidity requirements, investment objectives, risk parameters, and cash management needs.
You will be expected to actively prospect, conduct outreach, meet with prospective clients, and develop long-term relationships with CFOs, finance executives, treasury professionals, municipal finance teams, and other institutional decision-makers.
The ideal candidate is a confident and polished investment professional with a strong sales orientation, excellent relationship-building skills, and the persistence required to develop new business in a competitive environment.
This is a full-time, in-office position based out of our downtown Vancouver office.
Key Responsibilities
- Prospect and develop new institutional business with municipalities, public companies, private corporations, and other organizations with significant cash and liquidity management needs;
- Build and maintain a pipeline of prospective clients through cold calling, direct outreach, referrals, networking, LinkedIn, and other business development activities;
- Identify and establish relationships with CFOs, treasurers, finance executives, municipal finance professionals, and other key decision-makers;
- Conduct discovery meetings to understand prospective clients' cash positions, liquidity requirements, investment objectives, risk tolerance, and organizational investment policies;
- Develop and present investment and cash management strategies tailored to the needs of institutional clients;
- Deliver professional presentations and proposals to prospective clients, both virtually and in person;
- Convert prospective opportunities into new client relationships and contribute directly to the growth of assets under management;
- Develop and maintain strong, long-term relationships with existing institutional clients and identify opportunities to expand those relationships;
- Stay informed on interest rates, fixed-income markets, economic conditions, and other developments relevant to institutional cash management;
- Maintain accurate records of prospecting, client interactions, opportunities, and follow-up activities through Salesforce;
- Work collaboratively with associates and operational team members to facilitate account openings, investment transactions, documentation, and ongoing client servicing;
- Ensure all investment recommendations, communications, and activities are conducted in accordance with CIRO requirements, Canaccord Genuity policies, and applicable regulatory standards.
Skills & Qualifications
- Valid Registered Representative license with CIRO is required;
- An undergraduate degree or higher level of education;
- 5-7 years of work experience as a licensed Investment Advisor;
- Strong sales orientation and willingness to consistently conduct outbound prospecting and cold calling;
- Knowledge of fixed-income investments, money market products, cash management strategies, and interest-rate markets is an asset;
- Excellent presentation, negotiation, relationship-building, and interpersonal skills;
- High degree of professionalism and confidence interacting with executives and institutional clients;
- Attention to detail is a must with the ability to articulate clearly;
- Self-starter attributes, motivated and hardworking;
- Adaptability to work in a constantly changing and highly demanding workplace;
- Vibrant and professional demeanor;
- Able to present a polished appearance in a formal business environment.
