Your Next Challenge

Reporting to the Information Technology Supervisor,



you will be part of the Information Technology Department and will provide IT technical support with a specific focus on the Detour Lake underground operation. You will work closely with the IT team, Mine Systems and Communications, Operations, Maintenance, Process Control, and technology vendors to help ensure that underground technology services are safe, secure, reliable, and available to support the business.

This position supports the Detour Lake underground mining operation and requires access to underground work areas as operational needs dictate. The successful candidate must be comfortable travelling and working underground to support IT equipment and infrastructure. Underground work may involve uneven or wet ground, restricted lighting, dust, noise, temperature variations and work in proximity to active mining operations and mobile equipment.

All required site training, safe work procedures, and personal protective equipment requirements must always be followed.

- Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 IT support for employees and operational personnel, including workstations, laptops, tablets, applications, user accounts, printers, peripheral devices and network connectivity.
- Travel underground as required to install, configure, troubleshoot, replace, test and maintain IT end user equipment and IT infrastructure located in underground work areas.
- Monitor technology availability and performance, respond to service interruptions and alerts, investigate recurring issues and escalate complex incidents to internal specialists or vendors.
- Coordinate technical work with underground supervisors, underground mine systems and communications team, process control, and operational teams to minimize safety, production and service impacts.
- Maintain accurate IT asset inventories, network diagrams, configuration records, procedures and technical documentation. Participate in technology deployments, equipment commissioning, planned maintenance, system upgrades, change activities and operational-readiness testing.
- Provide professional, service-first assistance and retain ownership of requests through resolution or appropriate escalation.




- Identify opportunities to improve system reliability, supportability, security and the employee experience.
- Attend scheduled shifts, Fit for Duty, and comply with all site health, safety and environmental requirements.
- Complete required underground orientation, training and authorization before accessing underground work areas.
- Assess hazards before beginning work, follow applicable isolation and access-control requirements, and report unsafe conditions promptly.
- Perform IT work in a manner that does not bring avoidable risk to people, equipment, production or operational systems.

What You Need To Succeed

- College diploma in Computer Systems, Information Technology, Networking or a related technical program, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Minimum one to two years of relevant IT support experience.
- Experience supporting Windows workstations, network connectivity, user accounts, applications and peripheral devices.
- Basic knowledge of LAN/WAN, Ethernet, Wi-Fi and network troubleshooting.
- Ability and willingness to travel and work underground and to work in a remote mining environment.
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, customer service and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with IT, operational and technical teams.
- Proven commitment to health, safety and the setting.
- High level of integrity, accountability and respect for cybersecurity and confidentiality requirements.

Assets

- Previous experience in mining, heavy industry, manufacturing or another operational environment.
- Experience with fibre-optic communications, industrial networking, Wi-Fi, LTE, radio communications or leaky feeder infrastructure.
- Experience supporting network switches, UPS systems, remote enclosures and communications equipment.
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365, Active Directory, endpoint management, virtualization, backup or infrastructure monitoring tools.
- Relevant Microsoft, CompTIA, Cisco, Aruba, Fortinet, Palo Alto or equivalent technical certifications.
- Familiarity with Operational Technology networks, mine systems, fleet-management systems or industrial applications.
- Underground mining or site-specific safety training.
- Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint.
