JUNIOR MAINTENANCE WORKER

Nordic Minesteel Technologies (NMT) is currently seeking a motivated Junior Maintenance Technician to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with strong mechanical aptitude who is looking to develop their maintenance skills in a hands-on manufacturing workplace.

Working as part of the Maintenance team, the Junior Maintenance Technician will assist with the inspection, maintenance and repair of production equipment, mobile equipment, building systems and facilities. The position also supports preventative maintenance activities and general facility and grounds maintenance at NMT locations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Assist with the inspection, troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of production machinery and equipment, including presses, welding equipment, material handling equipment, lift trucks and other shop equipment.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance activities in accordance with established schedules and procedures.
- Assist with the maintenance of building systems and general facility repairs.
- Respond to maintenance work requests and document work completed.
- Identify equipment deficiencies or maintenance concerns and report them to the appropriate personnel.
- Assist qualified personnel and contractors with equipment repairs, installations and maintenance activities as required.
- Coordinate with and monitor contractors performing maintenance work on NMT property, as assigned.
- Maintain accurate daily maintenance and repair records.
- Update preventative maintenance activities and work orders using the applicable maintenance software.
- Assist with requisitioning maintenance parts, supplies and services.




- Perform general grounds and property maintenance equipment appropriate to the task.
- Participate in ongoing training and skills development.
- Follow all company health and safety policies, procedures and safe work practices.
- Perform other maintenance-related duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in industrial maintenance, mechanical repair, construction or a related field is considered an asset.
- Mechanical aptitude and an interest in equipment maintenance and repair.
- Basic knowledge and experience using hand and power tools.
- Basic understanding of mechanical, hydraulic and/or pneumatic systems is considered an asset.
- Ability and willingness to learn preventative maintenance and equipment troubleshooting techniques.
- Ability to read and follow equipment manuals, procedures and work instructions.
- Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to safely perform physical work, including lifting, bending, climbing, walking and standing for extended periods.
- Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Dependable, self-motivated and willing to learn.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel between NMT locations as required.
- WHMIS, equipment operation or other workplace safety training is considered an asset.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour
