Lead Carpenters – Residential Construction

B.C. Home Builders is a residential construction company based in Victoria, BC, and we’re looking for an experienced Lead Carpenter to join our team.

We’re looking for someone who takes pride in their craftsmanship, enjoys working as part of a team, and has the leadership skills to help keep projects organized and moving forward. The ideal candidate is a confident, hands-on carpenter who can lead by example while maintaining a positive and professional jobsite.

Responsibilities

- Lead and coordinate day-to-day work on residential construction projects
- Perform high-quality framing and finishing carpentry, as well as general construction tasks
- Read and interpret plans, drawings, and specifications
- Organize materials, tools, and daily workflow to keep projects on schedule
- Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and other members of the construction team
- Provide direction and support to apprentices and other carpenters
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized jobsite
- Identify and communicate potential issues before they become problems
- Work closely with project managers and homeowners when required
- Ensure work is completed to a high standard of quality and attention to detail

Qualifications & Experience
- Several years of experience in residential carpentry




- Strong knowledge of residential construction methods and building practices
- Previous experience leading a crew or taking responsibility for a project or jobsite
- Ability to read and understand construction drawings and plans
- Solid problem-solving and organizational skills
- Good communication skills and a professional, team-oriented attitude
- Ability to work independently while also supporting and mentoring others
- Valid driver’s licence and reliable transportation
- Commitment to safe work practices
