About ClearFPT / ShipFPT

ClearFPT Inc. is a newly established subsidiary of ShipFPT Inc., a Canadian full-service freight forwarding and logistics company providing air, ocean, ground transportation, customs clearance, warehousing, distribution and specialized logistics services.

We are now launching ClearFPT as a dedicated Canadian customs brokerage operation and are looking for an experienced Licensed Canadian Customs Broker to take a key role in initiating and building the operation from the ground up.

This is more than a traditional brokerage position. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to help establish the brokerage's systems, procedures, compliance framework, client processes and day-to-day operations, working closely with ShipFPT's existing freight forwarding and logistics team.

The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced, licensed Customs Broker who wants to be part of building something new.

You will be responsible for helping ClearFPT establish and launch its customs brokerage operation, including developing procedures, workflows and compliance processes and supporting the growth of the business.

The ideal candidate is someone who can work independently, understands the Canadian customs environment and has the experience to identify what is required to establish and operate a professional customs brokerage.

Responsibilities:

- Help initiate and establish the ClearFPT customs brokerage operation
- Develop and implement customs brokerage procedures, SOPs and workflows
- Manage day-to-day customs brokerage activities
- Prepare, review and manage Canadian customs entries
- Handle B3 customs entries, B2 adjustments and corrections
- Perform accurate HS tariff classification
- Review tariff treatment, duties, taxes, valuation and country-of-origin requirements
- Manage CARM / RPP processes and client requirements
- Assist with customs compliance and documentation
- Handle customs refund claims and drawback programs




- Identify opportunities for duty recovery, refunds and drawback where applicable
- Manage customs releases and resolve issues with CBSA
- Assist with CBSA AMPS, compliance reviews, verifications and audits
- Communicate directly with clients, importers, exporters and CBSA
- Review commercial invoices, packing lists and supporting documentation
- Work closely with ShipFPT's air, ocean and ground freight departments
- Establish internal controls to minimize customs errors and compliance exposure
- Develop client onboarding and customs authorization procedures
- Assist with establishing ClearFPT's technology and brokerage systems
- Help develop pricing, service procedures and operational standards
- Train future customs brokerage staff as the operation grows
- Participate in business development and help identify new brokerage opportunities
- Maintain current knowledge of Canadian customs regulations, tariff changes and CBSA requirements
- Prepare, review, and submit customs documentation accurately and efficiently for import and export shipments
- Navigate complex customs regulations to ensure compliance and avoid delays or penalties
- Negotiate with customs officials on clearance issues and resolve any discrepancies or issues promptly
- Manage customer relationships by providing expert guidance on customs procedures, tariffs, and import/export requirements
- Utilize data entry systems such as AS400 and Descartes Systems to track shipment statuses, update records, and maintain detailed logs




- Support account management efforts by assisting clients with inquiries related to customs clearance and supply chain logistics

Qualifications

- Valid license as a Customs Broker with comprehensive knowledge of international trade laws and customs regulations
- Minimum 4 years of customs brokerage experience
- Proven experience in freight forwarding, supply chain management, or related logistics fields
- Strong negotiation skills to resolve clearance issues efficiently and foster positive relationships with stakeholders
- Excellent customer relationship management abilities to deliver exceptional service and support B2B sales initiatives
- Familiarity with data entry systems such as AS400 / Descartes Systems and experience managing large volumes of documentation accurately
- Knowledge of 3PL operations, inside sales techniques, and supply chain processes is highly desirable
- Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and make sound operational decisions
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Pay: $70,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
