MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR

About the Position

Clarenville Retirement Centre is seeking a dependable, skilled, and motivated Maintenance Supervisor to join our team.

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that the home, equipment, grounds, and facilities are maintained in a safe, clean, functional, and comfortable condition for our residents, visitors, and staff.

The successful candidate will be someone who takes pride in their work, has good problem-solving skills, and understands the importance of maintaining a safe environment in a residential care setting.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and general upkeep of the building and property.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and address issues in a timely manner.
- Complete minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, drywall, flooring, and general repair work as required.
- Conduct regular inspections of the building, equipment, and grounds to identify maintenance and safety concerns.
- Assist with preventative maintenance programs and maintain appropriate maintenance records.
- Ensure resident rooms, common areas, staff areas, and exterior areas are maintained in good condition.
- Perform seasonal maintenance, including snow removal, salting, lawn care, and other outdoor duties as required.
- Assemble, install, move, and repair furniture, fixtures, equipment, and other items as needed.
- Coordinate with outside contractors and service providers when specialized repairs or services are required.
- Assist with emergency maintenance situations and respond appropriately to urgent facility concerns.
- Follow all applicable workplace health and safety requirements, infection prevention and control practices, and facility policies and procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Respect the privacy, dignity, and confidentiality of residents at all times.




- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills The successful candidate will have:

- Previous experience in building maintenance, facilities maintenance, construction, or a related field.
- Strong general repair and troubleshooting skills.
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and general building maintenance.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Good organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to prioritize work and respond effectively to urgent maintenance issues.
- A professional, respectful, and resident-focused approach.
- Ability to safely lift, carry, and move equipment and materials as required.
- Valid driver's licence would be considered an asset.
- Relevant trade certification or technical training would be considered an asset.

Experience in a Care Setting Previous experience working in a personal care home, nursing home, long-term care facility, hospital, or other healthcare environment would be considered an asset.

The successful candidate must understand that maintenance work in a care environment requires particular attention to resident safety, infection control, privacy, and minimizing disruption to residents.
