Overview

Our client, a leader in the mining industry, is seeking a highly skilled Manager of Technical Accounting to join their finance team in Toronto. This role involves managing complex accounting judgments, supporting external reporting, and contributing to internal controls as the company prepares for growth and new market opportunities in North America.

What you will achieve in this role:

- Own and manage technical accounting positions for complex, judgmental transactions including royalty arrangements, asset retirement obligations, and inventory costing
- Develop and align accounting policies and processes across sites in Canada, Peru, and Mexico
- Research, document, and communicate accounting positions for transactions arising from M&A; activity and other initiatives, preparing memos for review
- Support quarterly and annual financial statement preparation and liaise with auditors on technical accounting matters
- Assist with treasury support such as cash forecasting and gold sales settlement processes
- Contribute to the company’s budgeting and forecasting cycle
- Support SOX 404 readiness, including control design and documentation, particularly in technical accounting areas
- Collaborate on SAP system implementation, ensuring technical accounting requirements are reflected in system design
- Participate in special projects and ad hoc analyses as needed

What you will bring to this role:
- CPA designation is required
- 5-8+ years of progressive accounting experience, with a focus on technical accounting and policy roles




- Experience in the mining industry or with mining-related accounting matters such as royalty arrangements, asset retirement obligations, and inventory costing is strongly preferred
- Knowledge of multi-entity, multi-currency consolidation processes
- Exposure to treasury or FP&A; activities is an asset
- Experience supporting SOX or equivalent internal control frameworks is advantageous
- Robust written communication skills, including preparing technical memos for audits and leadership review
- Self-starter with the ability to develop policies and processes from the ground up
- Comfortable working in a small, growing team with a broad scope of responsibilities

Additional Qualifications:
- Experience with SAP and Power BI is highly desirable
