Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Manual Lathe Machinist to join our dynamic manufacturing team. In this role, you will operate manual lathes to produce precision metal components according to detailed specifications. Your expertise in mechanical processes, blueprint reading, and machining techniques will be essential to ensure high-quality output.

Duties

- Set up and operate manual lathe machines with precision, ensuring adherence to technical drawings and specifications
- Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and CAD models to determine machining requirements
- Select appropriate tools, fixtures, and cutting parameters for each job, utilizing hand tools and measuring devices such as calipers
- Perform routine maintenance and calibration of manual lathes to maintain optimal performance
- Inspect finished parts using precision measurement tools; verify dimensions and tolerances meet quality standards
- Collaborate with team members on assembly processes and support lean manufacturing initiatives for continuous improvement
- Maintain accurate documentation of work performed, including setup procedures and inspection reports

Requirements





- Proven experience operating manual lathes in a manufacturing or machine shop environment
- Strong mechanical knowledge of machining processes and metalworking techniques
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and CAD files effectively
- Familiarity with CNC programming concepts such as Mazatrol and Fanuc is a plus but not mandatory
- Proficiency with measuring tools including calipers, micrometers, and gauges for quality control
- Basic math skills for calculating dimensions, feeds, speeds, and tolerances
- Knowledge of CNC lathe operation and CNC milling machines is advantageous but not required
- Experience with hand tools, power tools, welding, forklift operation, and assembly tasks preferred
- Understanding of lean manufacturing principles to promote efficiency and waste reduction
