TRS Staffing Solutions has an exciting opportunity for a Material Handling Designer to work for one of Canada's top employers and a global leader in the Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Fabrication, and Maintenance industry.

The successful candidate will join a Mining & Metals Material Handling team involved in all aspects of design and mechanical engineering for large-scale conveyor systems, crushing and screening facilities, bulk material storage and reclaim solutions, and rail and ship loading/unloading infrastructure. Working closely with lead engineers, this individual will lead CAD design efforts, producing 2D drawings and 3D models appropriate to various project phases.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop 2D drawings and 3D models for belt conveyor systems and associated crushing, screening, and storage facilities.
- Prepare designs and construction drawings in accordance with industry drafting standards.
- Create detailed 3D models to support construction execution.
- Assign work to junior designers and review completed work for accuracy and quality.




- Review supplier drawings and incorporate vendor equipment into project layouts and models.
- Conduct 3D model reviews with project teams and clients.
- Support engineering and design activities across multiple project phases.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

- Accredited two-year diploma or equivalent in CAD, Mechanical Design, or a related technical field.
- Minimum 10 years of experience designing conveyor systems, crushing facilities, screening plants, or other bulk material handling infrastructure using 2D and/or 3D CAD.
- Strong understanding of conveyor layouts, chute design, storage bins, feeders, reclaim systems, and crushing facilities.
- Strong communication and coordination skills with multidisciplinary teams, clients, contractors, and vendors.
- Solid technical knowledge and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of material selection, availability, and associated costs.
- Ability to work effectively in a quick-paced project environment.

Preferred

- Experience with Bentley MicroStation and Intergraph SmartPlant 3D.
- Advanced knowledge of conveyor system layout and detailing requirements.
- Experience with platework design.
- Background working for engineering consulting firms, equipment manufacturers, or mining operations.
- Experience with comminution circuits, port facilities, bulk storage, and ship-loading systems.
