Mechanical Design Engineer CAD & Manufacturing [$40 - $80/hour]

Role Responsibilities

- Create and interpret professional engineering drawings, ensuring all relevant details are conveyed for manufacturing

- Translate complex design requirements into clear, manufacturable CAD specifications, with a focus on accuracy and precision

- Produce detailed 2D and 3D models using industry-standard tools (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Onshape, Inventor, Creo, NX) and reference models in FreeCAD

- Apply advanced principles of tolerancing, dimensioning, and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T;) to all deliverables

- Document and communicate manufacturing processes and design intent in clear, well-structured written and verbal formats

- Review, critique, and improve existing engineering documentation to enhance clarity and manufacturability

- Contribute insights on design for manufacture (DFM) and help optimize parts for real-world production scenarios

Good Candidature





- Extensive industry experience in mechanical design, with parts successfully transitioned from concept through to manufacturing

- Expert-level proficiency in CAD software, with demonstrated capability across multiple platforms (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Onshape, Inventor, Creo, NX)

- Solid hands-on knowledge of FreeCAD for interpreting or referencing models

- Strong command of drafting standards, GD&T;, tolerancing, and the creation of technical documentation suitable for manufacturing

- Deep understanding of various manufacturing processes, material selection, and DFM best practices

- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, able to document decisions and explain engineering concepts clearly

- Experience collaborating on engineering projects remotely and sharing feedback in a constructive, skilled manner
