We are seeking a Junior/Intermediate Mechanical Engineer to join our growing Mechanical Engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-to-mid-career engineer who is ready to strengthen their technical expertise, take greater ownership of project deliverables, and continue developing their project coordination and client-facing skills.

Working alongside senior engineers and multidisciplinary project teams, you will contribute to the design and delivery of mechanical building systems from conceptual design through construction and commissioning.

The Opportunity

As a Junior/Intermediate Mechanical Engineer, you will work on a diverse range of industrial, institutional, healthcare, commercial, and manufacturing projects.

Depending on your experience, you will independently complete portions of mechanical designs while receiving technical guidance and mentorship from senior engineering staff. You will have opportunities to participate in client meetings, coordinate with other disciplines, attend project sites, and become increasingly involved in the full project lifecycle.

This position is ideal for someone who has established a strong foundation in mechanical engineering and is ready to take the next step toward greater technical and project responsibility.

What You’ll DoMechanical Design & Engineering

- Design and develop HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, medical gas, and other mechanical building systems under the direction of senior engineering staff.
- Perform heating and cooling load calculations, equipment sizing and selection, pressure drop calculations, and other mechanical engineering analyses.
- Prepare mechanical drawings, specifications, schedules, reports, and technical documentation.
- Develop and coordinate mechanical models and drawings using Revit MEP and AutoCAD.
- Evaluate equipment and system alternatives and contribute to practical engineering solutions that balance performance, constructability, sustainability, and client requirements.
- Apply relevant codes and standards, including the Ontario Building Code, ASHRAE, NFPA, CSA, and project-specific requirements.

- Participate in internal design reviews and quality assurance/quality control processes.
- Identify design issues and work with senior engineers and project teams to develop appropriate solutions.

Project Coordination & Delivery
- Coordinate mechanical designs with structural, electrical, process, civil, architectural, and other project disciplines.
- Participate in project meetings with clients, architects, contractors, consultants, and other stakeholders.
- Assist with managing project deliverables, schedules, and technical requirements.
- Communicate project information clearly and professionally to internal and external stakeholders.
- Take increasing ownership of assigned project components as experience and technical capability develop.
- Support senior engineers and project managers with project planning and execution.

Construction & Field Support
- Conduct site investigations, field reviews, measurements, and existing-condition assessments.
- Prepare field review reports and document construction progress.
- Review shop drawings, RFIs, equipment submissions, and other construction documentation.
- Respond to contractor questions and coordinate technical issues with senior engineering staff.
- Participate in construction meetings and site coordination as required.
- Assist with commissioning, deficiency reviews, and project closeout activities.

Professional Growth
- Work closely with senior engineers and technical leaders to continue developing engineering judgment and design expertise.
- Support and collaborate with junior engineers, EITs, technologists, and designers.
- Develop increasing familiarity with project budgets, schedules, scope management, and client expectations.
- Build client-facing and project coordination skills through progressively greater involvement in meetings and project communications.
- Contribute to technical standards, templates, quality initiatives, and continuous improvement.
- Stay current with evolving technologies, codes, standards, and industry best practices.

What You’ll Bring

- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
- Registered as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) or eligible for registration.
- Approximately 2–5 years of progressive mechanical engineering experience, preferably within an engineering consulting environment.
- Experience with industrial, commercial, institutional, healthcare, and/or manufacturing projects is considered an asset.
- Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and mechanical building systems.
- Familiarity with the Ontario Building Code, ASHRAE, NFPA, CSA, and applicable industry standards.
- Proficiency with Revit MEP and AutoCAD.
- Experience preparing engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Previous construction administration and site review experience is considered an asset.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- P.Eng. designation or progress toward obtaining a P.Eng. designation is considered an asset.
- Valid Ontario Driver’s Licence and ability to travel to project sites as required.
