This Mental Health Therapist position will be working with the Crisis Response Team at the St Therese Health Center in St Paul. The Crisis Team provides exemplary mental health care for patients in a collaborative, interdisciplinary team environment. Services include comprehensive addiction and mental health assessment, short-term intervention and treatment. Also includes coordination of community outpatient follow-up and facilitation of admission when required. The Crisis Team is committed to the alleviation of stigma and discrimination related to mental health and addiction. The Mental Health Therapist models professional leadership and provides decision-making support by collaborating and delegating within the inter-skilled team.

Description:

As a Mental Health Therapist, you will be required to use a variety of treatment modalities (individual, family, and group) to persons experiencing significant mental health difficulties. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment.

Required Qualifications: Master's degree in Psychology; or master's degree in Social Work (clinical specialization) including education in mental health assessment and psychotherapy; or master's or bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy; or master's degree in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college.

Additional Required Qualifications: Minimum 2 years’ experience working in a Mental Health and Addiction setting. Direct crisis intervention experience required.

Preferred Qualifications: Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training (or successful completion as part of clinical orientation) is required. Demonstrated knowledge of the application of the Mental Health Act, Consent and Capacity.
