The Opportunity

We're seeking an experienced Journeyperson Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) to join our Alberta team.

This is a field-based role offering exposure to a wide variety of equipment, customers, industries, and projects. The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently and as part of a crew, troubleshooting unfamiliar problems, and representing Horizon professionally at customer facilities.

Preference will be given to candidates with additional trade certifications, particularly Millwright/Electrician or Millwright/Welder dual-ticket qualifications. Compensation above the starting wage is available for candidates with exceptional experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities

- Install, maintain, repair, and troubleshoot industrial machinery and mechanical equipment.
- Install and maintain conveyor and material-handling systems.
- Perform machinery installation, alignment, commissioning, and relocation.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance.
- Support shutdown and turnaround work.
- Perform rigging and equipment moves.
- Diagnose mechanical problems and develop practical repair solutions.
- Work safely and professionally at customer facilities.
- Complete required field documentation, timekeeping, and reporting.
- Communicate effectively with customers, supervisors, and other trades.




- Travel to customer facilities and project locations as required.

Required Qualifications
- Journeyperson Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) Certificate.
- Valid driver's licence and acceptable driver's abstract.
- CSTS certification.
- WHMIS certification.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, manuals, and specifications.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong commitment to safety, quality, and qualified workmanship.
- Willingness to travel and work overtime, weekends, shutdowns, or non-standard hours when project requirements dictate.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience
- Red Seal endorsement.
- Conveyor and material-handling equipment experience.
- Industrial field-service experience.
- Machinery installation and relocation experience.
- Rigging and heavy equipment moving experience.
- Alignment and commissioning experience.
- Shutdown and turnaround experience.
- Basic electrical troubleshooting knowledge.
- Fall Protection certification.
- Elevated Work Platform certification.
- Standard First Aid certification.

Additional consideration will be given to candidates with:
- Millwright/Electrician dual trade certification.
- Millwright/Welder dual trade certification.
- Advanced electrical troubleshooting experience.
- Other relevant industrial trade certifications.

Compensation & Benefits
- Starting wage of $45.00/hour.
- Higher wages available based on experience, qualifications, and additional trade certifications.
- Overtime paid in accordance with Alberta Employment Standards.

Work Schedule Work schedules vary based on customer and project requirements.

The position includes weekday work with regular weekend overtime opportunities. Work may also include early-morning maintenance windows, shutdowns, extended shifts, and periodic out-of-town travel.
