The person would work with children who have special needs and their families.

Guidance to ensure follow through of recommendations would be given by the Occupational Therapist, Speech Language Therapist, Phycologist (when appropriate).

We have a position that is for Saturdays 845 to 330. We are also wanting a one to three evenings in the week for one or two clients.

This is a driving position. You go to the family's home or community place. There is driving from different parts of the Edmonton and Sherwood park area. If you are wanting a non driving position then this is not for you. We are not paid milage; however, have 0.5 time for preparation-travel-not taking.

Requirements

- Reliable
- Extensive work experience and/or two year OTA/BTA diploma is needed.
- Know how to make and use visual schedules
- Understand strategies to work with children with sensory regulation needs and behaviors (heavy work, sensory play, proprioceptive input)
- Current clear criminal and vulnerability record check .
- Have a reliable vehicle and a valid drivers license. This is a requirement.
- Have references at least two work and/or school.
- Be very physically active and creative.



Be willing to play in the snow, play at the park summer and winter, go swimming if appropriate.
- Willing to learn and implement strategies in a fun and safe way
- Able to be proactive and with support set up developmentally appropriate games, crafts, cooking, toy play, and physical activities, ect.
- A calm disposition is needed.
- Be reliable and able to complete documentation for each visit. Training would be provided.
- You do need to have your own vehicle to be able to transport self to places. Having the ability to transport people would be an asset.
- Having experience working with children on the spectrum would be an asset.
- There is no cell phone for personal use during work hours, any use of profanity is prohibited, use of any rough or restraints is prohibited.
- Love working with people who are from a variety of cultures and using a play approach to help children learn and grow is a must.
