Overview The Overnight Resident Support Worker plays a key role in supporting women in residential treatment who are experiencing co-occurring substance use, mental health challenges, and the impacts of trauma. Working within a structured, trauma informed, and evidence-based care environment, the Resident Support Worker provides day to day support, supervision, and program assistance to promote safety, stability, healing, and recovery.

This role focuses on client engagement, program structure, medication support, documentation, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary treatment team. The Overnight Resident Support Worker contributes to a respectful, consistent, and accountable therapeutic milieu while upholding Alcove’s values, policies, and professional standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Resident Supervision and Safety

- Maintain a consistent, respectful, and trauma informed presence overnight
- Conduct scheduled room checks and common area rounds in accordance with policy
- Monitor residents for safety, wellbeing, and adherence to overnight expectations
- Respond calmly and appropriately to overnight concerns, disturbances, or emergencies
- Escalate health, safety, or behavioural concerns to on call leadership as required
- Ensure doors, alarms, and secured areas are monitored and maintained overnight
- Provide occasional, short term childcare supervision only if required to support resident safety during emergencies or essential program needs, within defined scope and guidelines

Medication and Health Support





- Support and observe client self administration of medications in accordance with Alcove policies and applicable legislation
- Complete required medication documentation accurately and on time
- Support drug and alcohol screening processes as required

Facility Care, Hygiene and Laundry

- Complete overnight cleaning and sanitization tasks to maintain health, safety, and infection prevention standards
- Clean and reset common areas, washrooms, kitchens, and shared spaces according to overnight checklists
- Complete resident and program related laundry duties, including washing, drying, folding, and proper storage
- Ensure cleaning supplies and equipment are used safely and stored appropriately
- Identify and report maintenance, supply, or environmental safety issues promptly

Documentation and Communication

- Complete overnight logs and incident reports that are clear, factual, and timely
- Document room checks, safety rounds, cleaning and laundry completion as required
- Participate in shift handover communication to ensure continuity of care
- Communicate relevant observations, risks, or concerns to supervisors and the day team

Qualifications and Experience

- Diploma or certificate in Social Work, Addictions Studies, Psychology, or a related human services field, or equivalent experience




- Recovery Coach Certification is preferred
- Experience working in residential treatment, addiction recovery, mental health, or trauma informed settings
- Training in nonviolent crisis intervention or de-escalation

Required Certifications and Clearances

- Current Standard or Emergency First Aid with CPR
- Naloxone training
- Explicit Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search and Child Intervention Check
- Child Intervention Record Check

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

- Working knowledge of the 12 Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of addiction, trauma, and mental health
- Ability to manage challenging behaviours with professionalism and empathy
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills
- Sound judgment and ability to make timely, risk informed decisions
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Comfort working in a structured, policy driven environment

Working Conditions, Expectations & Requirements

- Full-time or part-time available
- Overnight shifts are required
- Class 5 drivers license with a clean drivers abstract preffered.

We are looking for people who are available to work the following shifts: 10:30pm to 8:00 am Monday to Sunday

Weekend shifts as required

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Casual

Pay: $26.50-$27.50 per hour
