About the Client:

We’re seeking a compassionate Spanish-speaking caregiver for a 92-year-old woman living independently in her condo near Bloor West Village in Toronto. She experiences significant memory loss and declining cognitive abilities, often switching between English and Spanish without realizing it. Despite these challenges, she values her independence and wishes to continue living in her own home.

Her late husband passed from Alzheimer’s six years ago, and she’s determined to maintain her current living situation for as long as possible.

Responsibilities:

You’ll provide daily companionship and support for 4 hours each day, Monday through Friday, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

Your role includes assisting with bathing, preparing and serving meals (including feeding support as needed), providing medication reminders, and offering memory prompts and gentle redirection throughout the day. You’ll spend time chatting with her, accompanying her on walks around Bloor West Village or short bus trips, and helping with light activities around the condo. A neighbor named Gabby currently helps with morning and evening medication, so you’ll be providing the midday support that bridges these times.

What We’re Looking For:

The ideal caregiver must be fluent in Spanish, as this is essential for meaningful communication and comfort.



We need someone who makes our client feel comfortable and safe, demonstrates calm and patience, brings positive energy to each visit, and shows reliability and consistency. Solid communication with the family is important, along with relevant experience in memory care and personal care assistance.

You should be comfortable taking initiative when needed while respecting her independence and dignity.

Schedule:

Monday through Friday, 12 pm to 6 pm (6 hours daily). Care begins October 5th and is expected to continue for at least six months, potentially longer.
