About the Client:

We're seeking a compassionate and experienced caregiver for a gentleman living with mixed dementia (Alzheimer's and vascular dementia) in King City, Ontario. He has a strong personality and can be quite stubborn at times, which requires a caregiver with thick skin and patience. His wife is managing care while working and raising their 12-year-old son, and she needs reliable support to ensure her husband stays engaged and safe throughout the day.

The client's mood and cognitive state can vary significantly throughout the day—some moments he's conversational and clear, while other times he may become frustrated or resistant to help. He uses a cane for mobility and has some balance issues. He's independent with personal hygiene and basic self-care but needs companionship, cognitive stimulation, and assistance with daily activities to maintain his quality of life.

Responsibilities:

- Provide companionship and engage the client in meaningful activities such as conversation, card games, board games, and light exercises from physiotherapy
- Encourage and assist with getting out of the house for walks or errands
- Support with light meal preparation and reheating
- Provide medication reminders and ensure he takes medications as prescribed
- Assist with mobility and transfers as needed, ensuring safety throughout the home
- Perform light housekeeping and tidying to maintain a comfortable environment
- Provide memory prompts and gentle redirection when needed
- Transport the client for errands or appointments as required
- Monitor safety and well-being, especially given his cognitive changes

What We're Looking For:

We need a caregiver who is patient, calm,



and not easily rattled. Someone who can handle a strong personality with grace and firmness when necessary, while still respecting his independence and dignity. Experience with dementia care is essential, as is the ability to adapt to changing moods and behaviors throughout the day. A valid driver's license is required. The ideal caregiver will be proactive, reliable, and able to keep him mentally and physically engaged.

Schedule:

Initially starting with 6 hours per week split across 2-3 weekday visits (2-3 hours each), with flexibility to increase hours as the family and client become comfortable. Long-term goal is consistent weekday support during work hours, with potential for overnight or live-in care in the future.
