The Corporate Services department – Civic Facilities Division is seeking a temporary full‑time Physical Plant Maintenance Worker I for approximately two (2) years.

Responsibilities

You will perform skilled technical work involving the inspection, maintenance and repair of heating, ventilating, air conditioning and related systems in municipal buildings. This includes a wide variety of preventive maintenance tasks, including scheduled and emergency repairs and those arising from user complaints. You will also perform a variety of minor electrical and plumbing repair tasks.

Requirements

You will have a thorough knowledge of the functions and operations of heating, ventilating and air conditioning equipment and services; thorough knowledge of principles, practices, tools and equipment used in building support services, maintenance and repair work.



You will also have the ability to assist in the implementation of a preventive maintenance program for all physical plant equipment, read blueprints and plans, and prepare and maintain reports and records related to the work. You will have working knowledge and experience with direct digital controls (DDC).

You will have completed technical courses related to the work and have sound related experience in building maintenance operations. A valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License is required. You will be required to obtain and maintain an RCMP security clearance as a condition of ongoing employment.

Compensation

$38.65 to $45.48 per hour

(Pay Grade 20 – 2026 rates)

Hours of Work

Eight and one‑half (8.5) consecutive hours between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Thursday to Monday, including one unpaid one‑hour meal break. Scheduled days of the week are subject to change due to operational needs. The City of North Vancouver currently works a compressed work schedule with one scheduled day off (The day you would normally start, or end your 5‑day work week, in this case the Thursday or Monday) approximately each three‑week scheduling cycle.
