Overview

We are looking for an experienced, hands-on Plant Manager to provide leadership and operational oversight at our Grindrod, BC facility. This is an excellent opportunity for an experience manufacturing leader who enjoys being activity involved in plant operations, developing employees and improving processes.

Reporting to the General Manager, the Plant Manager will be accountable for the overall performance of the facility, including production, people leadership, food safety and quality, workplace safety, maintenance coordination, staffing, cost control and continuous improvement.

What You'll Do

As Plant Manager, you will provide leadership to the Grindrod facility and work closely with supervisors, employees and other departments to ensure the plant operates safely, efficiently and effectively.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide overall leadership and direction for day-to-day plant operations.
- Lead, coach and develop employees while promoting a respectful, accountable and team-oriented workplace.
- Plan and oversee production activities to achieve production schedules, customer requirement and quality standards.
- Ensure appropriate staffing levels and work collaboratively with Human Resources on recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management and workforce planning.
- Monitor plant performance through key indicators including production, labour, quality, yield, waste, downtime and safety.
- Identify operational challenges, determine root causes and implement effective corrective actions.
- Work closely with Quality Assurance to ensure food safety, sanitation, quality and regulatory requirements are consistently maintained.
- Promote a strong health and safety culture and ensure employees follow established safety procedures and company policies.
- Oversee maintenance priorities and coordinate with maintenance personnel and contractors to minimize downtime and improve equipment reliabiilty.
- Prepare,



manager and monitor plan operating budgets and expenses.
- Review profit-and-loss information and identify opportunities to improve financial and operational performance.
- Review inventory, production and operational reports to support effective decision-making.
- Identify and implement continuous-improvement opportunities relating to productivity, quality, labour utilization, equipment and processes.
- Build effective working relationships with employees, suppliers, vendors customers and other company departments.
- Participate in equipment upgrades, capital projects and facility improvements.
- Address escalated operational and customer concerns when required.
- Provide regular reporting to Senior Management regarding plan performance, challenges and improvement initiatives.
- Perform other related duties as required.

What You Bring

- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in manufacturing or food processing, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or management position.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, coach and develop employees and supervisors.
- Previous experience managing plant or production operations.
- Experience in food manufacturing, meat processing, dairy, agriculture or another regulated food-production, environment is a strong asset.
- Working knowledge of food safety programs and manufacturing practices such as HACCP, GMPs, sanitation and prevention controls.
- Strong understanding of workplace health and safety responsibilities within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with production planning, scheduling, labour management and operational performance measurement.
- Experience working with budgets, operating expenses, P&L; information and plant KPI's.
- Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills.




- Ability to identify operational issues and implement practical solutions.
- Experience with continuous improvement or Lean manufacturing principles is an asset.
- Ability to manage completing priorities and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel and the ability to learn production and reporting systems.
- Valid BC driver's licence.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule and provide operational support outside regular working hours when requires.
